The news is getting more and more depressing. I'm getting really frustrated, and the cold weather outside isn't helping.
I'll just keep telling myself that it's all gonna work out.

read this article. It's about the speach bush gave in a wharehouse in St. Louis last week. The boxes behind bush were actually fake, but the ones in front of him had tape over the made in china labels. Aparently that is a federal offence.

This is my rant: Why do people have to suck??? CUZ PEOPLE SUCK! For instance, certain PEOPLE have problems with a certain SOMEONE who wants to be s stage/street performing artist. They say it's impractical and silly, and think I (er, I mean SOMEONE) should be NORMAL, like everybody else. I HATE NORMAL! NORMALNESS IT DUMB! I AM WEIRD, AND I'M LOVIN EVERY BIT OF IT!!Normalness is WAY overated!!! .... now if you'll excuse me, I must go punch something... "I feel very fortunate to have won some of the awards I have especially when I look back at the incredibly talented artists that I competed against. In my earlier years the quality of specialty acts was far superior to what exist today. It is tragic what has happened to entertainment today. I can only hope that this will change but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will happen soon." --Anthony Gatto

Who is Anthony Gatto again? Some guy who spends his entire show staring at the cieling. He also happens to be arguably the most talented juggler in the world, but prolly not the most talented entertainer. All due respect to him, he's gone places with juggling that no juggler has ever gone before, and he's one of my heros, but he has no buisness making a blanket statement like that.
Whatever, it doesn't matter.

Here is the page I got the quote from.

Gatto is the best technical juggler in the world. Period. His show is incredible if you like that sort of thing. I don't.

I find his work soul-less. That's just my opinion.

He is dead wrong about entertainment being better "yesterday."
I have IJA video tapes of competitions from the 80's through today. The acts the won the Gold medal 20 years ago wouldn't even be allowed to compete today. 25 years ago a five club juggler was rare, today there is at least one, in every juggling club around the world.

Technical achievements in the art of circus continue to progress as new techniques of sports medicine, training, and frankly -- steroids, develop.

Perhaps Gatto is refering to "creativity." I would again say he is wrong. He's not looking in the right place. Gatto performs at caberet houses in Paris & Germany. Lido, the caberet where he works in Paris is doing the same tired topless showgirls and vegas style acts it has been for the past 100 years. A ticket to the Lido costs $150, and you get dinner too. It markets to rich tourists.

If Gatto wants to see creativity, he should go to Finland and hang out with Maxim & Jay Gilligan. Hell, the dumb ass is in Paris. All he has to do is walk to Beaubourg on a sunday afternoon and watch the Banana man do his street show.

There is SO much new creative theatre happening in Paris, and it's literally bursting out onto the pavement. The only way to miss it is to lock yourself in your appartment. London is two hours away by eurostar, and Gatto is a Rich SOB so a $200 ticket is chump change. The west end has SO much great theatre.

If you look, you will find it.

I saw Gattos show at a juggling convention in England , and anyone whocan mix up toe curling cheese with quite astounding technical skill, is king in my book , king of irony . The best part of his show in everyones opinion whas when he got his dad up on stage , spouted a lot of drivel , and gave him a present . Fantastic .

Jason Garfield- the Sylvester Stallone of juggling. That's not to say 'Demolition Man' isn't a good picture, it just doesn't make my top ten list.

Jason is the only reason I want to go the the IJA conventions anymore. I would say he's more like the Eminem of the juggling.
