My rant about Jason.
He used unauthorized footage of my friend Sean Mckinney to make fun of him in the last juggling master vidio.
Seans style may be slopy, but it works for him doesn't it, and it looks sooooo bad ass. Plus, he's a really nice guy, and a lot smarter than everybody thinks he is.

I laughed my ass off. He had killer technique, and was entertaining as hell. He deserved the cup.

Since I hadn't been following the dramas of the IJA, I was immune to prejudice.

I believe every community needs at least one person to question whether everything the community strives for is bulllshit. If you don't question that every now and then, you run the risk of becoming bullshit.

I'm surprised the footage was unauthorized. Really? Is the same true for the Mark Nizer footage? Somehow I don't believe it.

I am freinds with Sean. We had the vidio sent to my house and we watched it together, and I can tell you that Sean was not happy about it, nor did he give permission for it's use in a commercial vidio. Sean himself has been accused of using unauthorized vidio in one of the caught clean vidios, which was true and he learned his lesson for it (serious juggling won't distribute it for that reason). I don't know about Mark, I'm not friends with him.

I do think jason is funny though, and I like his commitment to his character on stage. You guys bashing him for steroids sound like you have penis envy or somthing.

It would be difficult to "envy the penis" of a steroid user. It is a medical fact that steriod use shrinks mr. happy.

The character was fine, the routine a very refreshing mix of technique and comedy, the piss-takes were a gas.
The self-serving, competition- belittling chest-pounding after- award mike-grabbing "speech" was what had me retching.
"I'm not gonna say I don't deserve this award. This award doesn't deserve me." Please. Add to that the completely uncalled for, rude comments about the other competitors, and you've got a tough time for a ticket buyer.
I got it plain and clear that Jason has amazing skills. I don't need his personal shortcomings and lightly disguised whines rubbed in my face.

I came here for something else...got distracted by this WWF Juggler conversation. Thanks for throwing out the spark, Robert. Guys, I have never seen Jason Garfield live and don't know whether he has a sense of humor or not, but his website was a riot. I laughed a lot.

I'm not qualified to comment on his relative jerkdom, and from his site and your posts, I can see that he's in no danger of being accused of "playing nice," but I found his overlarge everything incredibly funny.

Especially if he didn't mean to be.

Think we can refrain from starting rumors about our fellow jugglers? All you present here is circumstatial evidence. Just because jason has all of those character traits in his show and in his practice sessions doesn't mean he's taking drugs (but it does make me wonder). This thread has been mean spirited. I've been doing some nasty things to some people around me lately and it's not neccisary (even if they do deserve it). The summer pitch pollitics season is coming up in three months, so we should try to be nice until then for the sake of good karma (even if you don't have to deal with pitch pollitics).
So lets just let it go, please!!!! When you post gossip I can't help getting caught up in it!!!
(IMHO) The IJA needs a little testosterone anyway.

-If you'd like alternate sources of the harmful effects of steroids there are MANY independent studies to verify this. The government page was the first one that popped up in Google.

-The name of this thread is RANT HERE. It can be mean, it can be stupid, it can be fun. Just like ANYTHING it can't be taken too seriously. I would think that goes without saying but in your case, apparently it doesn't. Here's an emoticon so you know I'm saying that with a tender fluffy feelings in my heart: [img]smile.gif[/img]
