    New York

If not for a simple twist of fate Bev and I would have been in NY yesterday (if I had gone to Canada this summer, it was our plan that we would spend a few weeks there). I'm desperately hoping none of our clan have been caught up in this tragedy. It would be good to know, as news gets out, that Master Lee and others are OK.
Pls., let us know as you find out.
Lots of love to all those that have been hurt.

I'm wondering about Ted Kilmer - producer of the New York Buskers fare. The office of the Manhattan Cultural Council was right there in one of the towers. I've lost touch with Ted since I last worked the WTC - if any one has a home number for him I'd love to know he's allright. I tried calling Master Lee this morning but couldn't get through - lines are all busy. I'll post as soon as I find out. Anyone hear from Jeff Moshe or Sean Grissom?

Impossible to get through to NY...
heard from Mosche just before the tragedy

Quote: "I am in the middle of a 5 week cruise contract through new england (actually I am in Halifax right now, enjoying the reminiscence of days gone by) and finishing up september 30. Life ain't bad, considering that it is PUSSILESS!"

I hope someday we will all be able to smile again. My heart & hope is with you all.

        Raoul,

I know Ted hasn't worked there for a while, but I'm not sure exactly where he was working lately... I think he's working from home. His phone is 212-760-0116.

My roommate was in NY on Monday, the day before the attack. She actually saw Master Lee over the weekend. I haven't heard from him yet. I've been calling people and lines are just impossible to get through.

Someone has reached a cold hand into our lives and shocked us with human brutality... we have been shaken down to our DNA... our faith in goodness has been challenged... our hearts ache and our minds reel in a profound confusion...

There is a sensation of helplessness... what can I do? what can be done? what can any of us do?

Perhaps there is little we can do... nothing will undo this event... what has happened has happened...

I know this... we can't allow them to win by losing our hope or optimism... we can't allow our spirits to be broken...

          Peace,
          Robert

FYI: William Lee is OK and cantankerous as ever... Muki talked to him last night ... Zero boy OK too ... thank God and pass the hat!

It may be premature and I'm certainly one of the least qualified superficially but I,m in the states with time on my hands and a good line in arriving at comedy via the dark door (sort of respectful given the enormity)
              Optimism roadshow anyone?
              (I'm serious)

Martin, I think that may be a terrific idea. May I suggest that all proceeds go to the Red Cross, or other relief organizations?

What did you have in mind, Martin?

There are lots of things one can do as an individual (give blood, offer housing billets to stranded travellers, donate to Red Cross, etc), but is there something we can offer as a group?

In I ran as you ran out,
                      Fire, smoke, heat,
                      Panic, fear, anger, grief,
                      I heard your cries,
                      and so I tried.

                      A second crash,
                      Why? What and How?
Confusion. What the Hell is going on?
                      I heard your cries,
                      and still I tried.

                      So I stayed,
                      One building down,
                      My friends are gone,
                      I heard your cries,
                      and yet I tried.

The world fell down all around me,
                      good-bye my wife,
good-bye my son, good-bye all my loved ones,
                      I heard your cries,
                      and then I died.

If you are calling any one who lived south of canal st. thay wont get it for a while as everything sout of canal is closed. The shock of the towers colapsing caused earthquake type damage to LOTS of the serounding bildings.
as fare as I know all my frends and family are safe. ( my sister was 1 stop away from the wtc when thay felt a shock like some one droping a jack hammer, the train was held in the tunnel for a while then detoured past the wtc stop because of "smoke in the tunel"
whn she got to work she could see the hole in the bilding. It was a 5 hr, trip home, by way of queens!
On the brite(?) side thay found 5 of the missing fire fighters yesterday in a suv, 3 of witch walked out under ther own power saying where do you want us?! and they found 2 mor today that are still alive tho thay wont relese ther condition.
one of the missing cops is a frend of my sister's he was not caut buy the building at all but was just unable to regroop and was "lost" for a short time. he called his girl frend to tell her he was all right, crying the intire time.
I cant tell you how mutch crying i have done in the past copla days, I was born and rased in New York City, and nomater where I go it is home. I'm sory.

The US gov't has in practice declared war upon the citizens of the third world. This
is seen in the dozens of invasions, coups, assassinations, sanctions, privatiza tion of water treatment, etc.
This US imperialism has created a fertile ground for this sort of thing to happen again and again. This problem must be solved, because we are going to be held responsible for what is done in our name.
If your country has been bombed back into
the stone age, there's no clean water and your
life expectancy is 35 yrs,you can be damn sure you'd have a profound and deep hatred
towards the obvious cause of your misery and looming early death.2 can play the "collateral damage" game, and it's time to fight for participatory democracy where we get to vote on every war issue. We
have to fight to change our social structure so we can have a voice to steer our nations away from a likely nuclear future.I know,it's a big job but any
solution short of this is like a bandaid on a shotgun wound.
                          Here's to getting organized.
