You're right, I offered a straight up bet. But I didn't say how much.

Clearly I am not in the league of you big boys when it comes to wagers.

I'm offering one straight £50 bet. Any takers?

£50. You got it. And I'll take you to dinner and drinks all night at a good friend of mine's pub in Pagham (It's a pub, but the food is NOT pub food).

Okay. That sounds great. And if I lose I will reciprocate by buying you a meal.

To be honest, I really do hope its not ten years before I finally meet you. I don't think it''ll be as long as ten years before I win this bet either.

Has anyone ever heard of a famous impressionist that has ever impersonated a circus/variety performer other than charlie chaplin or houdini ?

If I do Etienne on "Champagne Comedy" (a free to air TV show in Melbourne), will that seal the wager?

You'd have to be a famous impressionist if it were to adhere to the original bet Peter.
I don't think he was talking about impressionist in the 'painting style' either Peter.

I've heard of 2 of the people you've listed jester.
Now name the famous impressionist that did the impressions.
I can't even think of a famous impressionist.

Mike Yarwood, Kenny Everett, Les Dennis... We have Alistair McGowan and John Culshaw nowadays too...

Sorry you haven't heard off all of our celebrities, but I shall make sure they have heard of you...

Peter, I wish I had thought of that one earlier... Ha ha. Nice.

I grew up watching Kenny Everret so I know of him. Ahh the memories. 'and now it's time for a break'.
Alistair McGowan rings a bell also.
Trust me, if there is a british celeb. that we haven't heard of in Australia, then they can't be that famous.

                      Which reminds me. Barry Humphreys.

                        Barry Humphries.

We worked with him years ago when his best trick was a bucket on his head. He was MC. This was in the Palm Lounge up on the Gold Coast. Maybe he was wearing a costume, but to us it just seemed like an ordinary man's suit. No sign of things to come.

How things have changed. Dame Edna is appearing soon on stage in our area and there's no mistaking the costume this time.
