    A Bet

Who wants to bet against this:

I reckon that a famous impressionist will perform an impression of Ettiene on mainstream TV within the next 10 years.

By that I mean he will have been seen enough on TV and Film for people to know exactly what he looks like and who he is, even if they can't always name him. And he will be irresistable to impressionists. He will be a household image, if not a name.

Etienne has created a look which I at first wasn't very sure about, but the more I see it, the more I like it.

Am I jelous of his forthcoming fame, fortune and acclaim?
    Too bloody right I am.

    Now the other bit.

Scot will be Playboy TVs first juggling presenter. (Well that isn't exactly a serious prediction, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me and I certainly wouldn't bet against it.)

Hey guys when you're famous, remember me (but forget about all the arguing the toss and stuff eh?)

      Good Bet Etienne.
If he's right, you'll be able to afford it and if he's wrong, well hey, the 500 quid might be handy if it's worth anything in 10 years time.

I am assuming that this bet is now fully witnessed and franked.

Can you afford other bets, Jester? I'd be interested if you're prepared to pay.

What the hell, I want 500 of this action too.

          That's 1,500 so far Jester.

Do you still want to play?

Okay, well lets do this with odds.

I'll stump £100 against your £500. Your offering me odds of 5 to 1 against Le Pire being impersonated on a major National TV Show.

By major National TV in the English speaking world, I mean USA, UK, Aus or Canada (how big is NZ? would you count that?)

In ten years £100 will be like £40 now, so you can go out and hit a bar with that quite comfortably.

The reason I thought of this? 10 years ago I bet that Dylan Moran would play a major role in a major movie. He was in Sean of the Dead and the guy I made the bet with just paid up. £50. He refused to accept TV as I did say "Movie" at the time.

I think that I am going to be spending your money in ten years time.

            Do you accept?

If Ettiene becomes really well known, but nobody does a TV impression of him, then I lose the bet.

hey, can I bet in Pesos?
Well, maybe I WILL just keep telling myself that.

If there are less then 11 digits in the amount of pesos per pound I'll accept your bet.

wait. I'm confused. ...so, one peso is out of the question?

...this is too rich for my blood. I'm out.

Not good enough Jester. You didn't mention odds. You offered a straight up, even money bet but are now trying spin it round to an odds-on bet.

                    Sort of typical I suppose.

odds? wh-wh-wh-what? I'm not OTB and I'm certainly not a horse. C'mon Jester, a straight up bet of £500 that I don't amount to shit in 10 years... and I'll even up the ante. £1000 that I live a miserable and desparate life-- spending the latter years of my life alone and unloved. Just like my hero Gazzo.

                        Hey Etienne,
Never told you I love the Euphonium, lot's of octaves. The cornet is cool but I found the trumpet and french horn are way to hard to play while doing other stuff. The strap is almost a prop or tool of its own, hey.

Send me a video and one of your old suits. 500 quid is 500 quid after all.

                        PS Don't take it hang-gliding.

"miserable and desperate" is too subjective to bet on.
                          that's just my two cents.

"alone and unloved" -- that's fine.

...oh yeah. Can I bet two cents?

crap. can I pull out? I was just kidding. The Canadian dollar's up lately, and I don't have that kind of money.

My bookie, Frankie, is already threatening to bust my kneecaps for the time when I was 11 and bet that Hammer Pants would never catch on.
