I got a decent grin out of the grocery store chain coincidence probability, and Eric, you have been a bit quicker to judge comedy unsolicited, and slower to dispense it, of late. Dan's musings and refusal to bow to a man a full year his junior are at least somewhat interesting.

Dan, you have my full unasked-for approval. Derek, Dan is alright, once you look beneath the somewhat book-on-tape ish exterior, and the book-on-cd personna within reveals itself.

I for one have it on good athourity that Martin is on an all-expense paid jaunt to the Middle East, where he is engaged as a command performer for Rumple, who is casting a commercial for the re-release of the White Album.

scape goat. ...not that he's a goat.

I do think this Dan dude is onto something, though.
I mean, I gained five pounds over the holidays and I'm pretty sure it was Martin's fault. ...Definately not the box of chocolates' or my lack of self control.
Oh, also -- I can never figure out those brain teaser metal things that are linked together (you know, the kind you're supposed to unlink and link back up again?) I blame my lack of link on Lurk.
I've also been feeling a little depressed and unmotivated to do my work lately. But now that I know who's culpable, things are looking up.
And now I post some winky faces to indicate how clearly joking I am.
(From the little I know of Ewen, I like him. Everyone says hurty things from time to time -not that that's good, but they do. He just says them very well. "with great power comes great responsibility", etc, etc.)

            things that are Martin's fault

            Rachel,
You are definitely on to someting, or on something I'm not sure which. Martin could definetly be behind your weight gain. I have been doing a lot of research into what I call the Martin is bad syndrome and have identified several other events that seem to be his fault.

            1) The general lack of quality in the new Star Wars movies especially compared to the classic eighties films.

            2) The fact that it is harder to get goat milks yogurt in the winter then it is in the summer.

            3) freezer burn, shark attacks, wine snobs

I am sure there are many more bad things that can be attributed to him, but I am too busy with my successful p.net writing career to fully investugate this phenomenon.
            best wishes,
            Dan

What about that sadness you feel, deep in your soul, when someone fails to give you the "thank you" wave after you extend them a traffic courtesy? That behavior cuts me to the quick. I blame my smarting heart on Mart.

You could use his name as a swear word to relieve some of the pain.

I have no examples. I'm too tired to be creative today.

                  (probably martin's fault, of course.)

PS: Why does everyone always imply that I'm "on something"?! It doesn't REALLY bother me, I usually take it as a compliment (somehow), but what is it that makes me seem so doped? Seriously. It happens far too often for me to ignore. The most I've ever been "on" anything was the time I tried to counter act the sleepy effects of Graval with the wakey effects of Coffee. That was a little bit trippy. But for really real -- what the crap! Even in art school, where practically everyone else was "on something"... When weird people think I'm weird, it scares me just a little.

                      It all becomes clear

                      Happy Birthday, Dan.

Really, 44 isn't that old. Really.

                        hold that thought

Thank you Stephon. The weird thing is I don't feel a day over 43 and a half.

P.S. Rachel I don't really think you are on something, but if everybody else does I could be wrong.

I'd probably be disqualified from teh Olympics

Well, I tend to be pretty self-aware (I'm usually consious of when and how often I'm bing a dork), but this one's baffled me for years.
Back to the thread topic, it's probably Ewen who's been drugging me all this time. I should probably stop eating the candy I get in the mail. ...and I'll stop using the syringes that get Fedexed to me.
Ok. that's enough of me blaming Martin. It was fun and all, but I'm done.
I'm going to switch over to blaming my Prime Minister, Paul Martin, like everyone else in this country does. Election time! YAY!
Well, maybe I WILL just keep telling myself that.

Maybe, if this works out well for Rachel and the Prime Minister, it will actually come down to people who have Martin in their name and just our own Martin.

Martin is very popular at not being popular.

                                A puzzle for you.

Martin stuffed up my cryptic crossword the other day.

The clue for 3 across was "Fleet boy like bird", 7 letters.

I put the answer in and finished all the rest except 7 down.

                                ??
