    More art from the street

Here are some of my favourite pics over the past year or so, to hang in this rambling new gallery created by Peter...

"The Egg" was some of my best work in Edmonton last year (outside the clown band!). Created over a couple minutes in frying heat, I photographed it after the tornado hail melted...

Edmonton in July... Hmm I wonder if it kept fresh, frozen also?

        Corporate complexity

A nice gig Peter got me last year.. creating an illusionary hole for a building developer which they dressed with rather expensive props! (The digger is real..)

          The fried egg is ubercool.

When you and Bev were touring Canada 2001, I regularly googled the local papers to see what was happening and on about the 5th day at Edmonton I found a front page photo of you clinging to a tree during a tornado. How many tornados have you survived now?

          I was very impressed.

This is what i'm working on at the moment.
Its raining and couldn't work on it today. it is winter here and we have had a long drought.
The buildings (some of them ) are Melbourne specific.
Not finished yet as I want to get a better photo.

Does your picture last through the rain or do you have to start again?

I use semi-waterproof fixative so it can be walked on, rained on, I can have a day off if need be and drawing is still there when I return.

It must be said that a drawing after rain and wear and tear is often somewhat diminished in impact.

When it rains I just go off and do other things, got a mosaic I'm working on at home in its final stages, its taken me nearly 4 yrs to complete. ( Not home much.)

This year at least has provided some well paid work to allow a bit of the pressure off.

The pic I posted was however a self funded busking pic .
It is paying for itself when the wheather is fine.

                    check this out.

I like these 3d effect ones a lot
some more by the same guy

The 1 of the 2 guys drawing fooled me the first time I looked.

The guy on the first link is Julian Beever, he is the guy with the blowfly in the second link. The first few pics in the second link (the figures in the sunken dish thing) are by Kurt Wenner.
I'm led to believe both guys use projectors to help them lay out their work.

When I drew the picture below at the '91 Geldern P.art Festival (sort of the world championship of p.art), contemporary subjects and 3D stuff were virtually unknown. I think Julian was about 19 at the time, whereas Kurt seems to have been around forever. When the Geldern Festival published a calender marking it's 25th year, it was September.

I first drew the crushed can in '90 at an event that also had Deb Robinson and Gary Animal drawing. Deb was quite shocked by it.

Thanks for that Taxi, I think we'll play that game, it looks like a lot of fun.

The link doesn't work though (comma at the end of the address, just put a space between the two), can you edit it for others, pls?

                            Thanks again.

Here's a new pic from last Saturday that Diana and I made in 6 and a half hrs for a tile company promotion.

Pay was really only viable for one artist but with one artist working would have been flat out to get out a complete image let alone border and fake mosaic.

Client was happy promising future and more frequent work.
The good points about the gig close to cafe and toilets and undercover from threatening rain also beautiful surface to work on.

We don't get much paid work at this time of the year (winter in melb) so this was a good opportunity to work .

Thanks for those details about the stencil\ poster exchange Taxi.
There are some good stencil artists just locally where Pete and i live.

Hoping some one new will post a new pic here, it would be wonderful to see what Deb Robinson and Chalkmaster Dave are doing these days.
