Bev and Diana Isaac will be featured in an episode of "Melbourne Weekender" on Sat. 28th. It's sort of magazine TV and the episode is concentrating on Melbourne's buskers but I don't know who else is on it.
This is the pic they were working on.

      Chalk the Walk

Okay it's taken a while to post the end- result pictures from Chalk the Walk- I am blaming my Damaged in a Dog accident Hand (14 stitches and a sausage-finger). It's starting to work again now.. (yes that's my drawing hand..)

I was honoured to be the headline artist at CTW06 and not have to compete with so many great artists!! A shame so few prizes to give to such a rich diversity of talent. Garry Jaggamarra won the hat-trick of prizes, First place, People's choice, and the artists Red Baron flight! He treated us all to a healing song and a big bar tab wrap party at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel.

        Chalk the Walk Sydney 2006..

Jameson won the High Commendation with "Eternity line". I like this photo-portrait even though the picture still wasn't finished at the time.

We all had a great art-jam, and party, at this well-run event.

This is my latest piece finished, with the help of Bev and Diana Isaac, last Friday.
It's a corporate piece for the opening of the new Citroen showroom in Singapore and the weather, as usual, was appalling.

The guy leaping (actually he's just lying on the pic) is a real person and we had the guests, suits and all, posing on the work all night, even the international CEO of Citroen took off his jacket and played.

          Hope you like it.

            Chalk the walk again

Well... damaged-by-dog-hand required many heavy painkillers and nauseating antibiotics.. I forgot to post my "headliner" pic from Chalk the Walk... Doh!!
This was designed as an interactive piece.. on the last day of the competition I invited people to come and pose as acrobats on trapeze or air balloon..

The closest artists get to sportiness..

I've just worked at the Australian Open Tennis...

Michelangelo painted the Mona Lisa over 20 years.. I drew Roger Federer, Marcos Baghdatis, Maria Sharapova, and Amelie Mauresmo in two days.. so if you think there's a certain ZING missing, or the noses are a bit wonky... hey, give us a break!!!

At Southbank yesterday I met some sand gropers (western Aussies) who wanted to know if I was the artist who drew Bon Scott at Fremantle.
I told them that Ulla drew Bon and after some compliments they told me a couple of newly weds were getting photographed by the picture.
They explained to me that Bon was living in Perth after his folks immigrated from the UK and before his music career took off in Melbourne. He is also buried in Perth.

The people of Perth want a statue of him for a public location in Perth's CBD. However Perth City Council seem to be blocking the process of this happening. What a surprise!.
At least we have ACDC lane in Melbourne.
All power to pavement art and Ulla's drawing of our legend.

                      Auckland- wishes for diamonds?

                      Thanks Bev.

Yes... funny how some people want to get married by pavement art, and others.. want to get it removed!

Ironically, it was the diamond trader on Queen Street in Auckland at this years buskers' festival who insisted that my picture be washed off (overlapping private property by 3 feet).. I had to re-draw it five feet away.

People made wishes for days, at my pavement art fishpond, but not for Mr Mansours diamonds....

In this instance, the "queens highway" protected my rights a little, and I decided not to take up the matter of the unauthorised removal of half of my public artwork, commissioned by the council, with my team of international arts lawyers....

                      www.ullart.com is growing...

PPN- the reason I drew Bon Scott in Freo was because I heard Freo council was placing a statue.. Bon's grave is nearby at Freo cemetary, and many a headbanger is reputed to have shared a spill of whisky at his resting place... (RIP BON..)

                        To be continued

Sometime in Feb this year a new pavement artist hit the streets of Melbourne.
A Swiss traveller passing through that saw the scene and thought it would be fun to have a go. Inspired by Bev, Diana, Bronywyn and Ulla, she bought some chalk and started drawing.

After a few days of days playing with similar patterns, Annette produced this picture. Diana Isaac is on her left.

Q: for good pavement art results, what sort of chalk/paint/tools to you recommend? Anything specific? Type? Brand?
Well, maybe I WILL just keep telling myself that.
