    FYI:

It is interesting to see that there are a few members who have maintained a very high average posting rate from the onset, but that in general, most of the membership leaves after a while.

        Peter.

As I speak, an army of elves (the little ones, the real ones, not LOTR elves) are making you a special Performer.Net concierge outfit. This will include epaulets the like of which have not been seen since Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. The buttons are made from pre-crimean military standard brass, pressed lovingly by hand in the workshops of Antwerp.

Deep in the bowels of a Peruvian mountain, the sole survivors of the Dwarf race are forging you a gold badge, so shiny and so special, made only from non contaminated pre nuclear ores, the sort used in superconducters. This badge will be the Badge to bind all badges. For this badge is the Pnet Prefect Badge. It will be impossible for any to destroy this badge once it has been forged. This is all in preparation for when you finally retire from the world of art and step up into your destiny as:

        Son of Jim!

As the Son of Jim you will be charged with trawling the www. picking up disciples as you go. You will have to preach good manners and Forum ettiquette. You will devise 10 commandments and change the internet for ever.

Of course, in order to save us (and I really need saving) you shall have to be strapped to a cross in a Kareoke Bar frequented by angry old mime artists who go to let off voice. This is why you are called Peter Voice. This is your destiny.

You will spend forty minutes in the desert where an evil Jester will tempt thee most sorely, offering you banner points, telling you that you have won yet another holiday, but you shall have non of it.

You shall say "Get thee hence Jester.. Begone Foul Fiend!" And it shall be thus.

You shall remain in the bar, tethered in full earshot of the most painful howling tunes, as they cover, Elvis, Tom Jones, Tony Christie, The Spice Girls and William Shatner. But fear not.

After three days, your father Jim shall come unto you, and untie you and you shall rise once more and the kingdom of heaven shall be ours.....

Your reward will be the chance to act as step father to Magrats immaculately conceived child "Son of Jim 2" All will be revealed in the sequel.

          Taxi,

OK, I know that was sarcasm, but was that really necessary? Come on, a pie chart wouldn't be able to show the trend very well.

It would be different if you had said "scatter-graph" - now that's funny!

The point is that if one is just looking at the average posts per day without including how long the member has been active isn't a very fair indicator. On the average-posts/date-joined graph it is much more difficult to make a bar on the left side of the chart than on the right.

The observation - which is probably pretty self-apparent to anyone who reads many online communities - is that there are a handful of members who drive most of the traffic. In P.net's case, most of these core members joined before the first quarter of 2002.

He, he, he... Scatter-graph... I'm still laughing.

Ahhh, thank you Steven. Your charts have finally raised the level of wit here.

Although, I think Taxi's suggestion of the pie method may have some merit.

Statisticly there are more "prefect/Wannage Moderator/Topic Police/I'm telling Mum" type postings in the Blah de blah section than there are "irrelevant" postings.

The "Prefect" postings outnumber the "bandit" postings by 2.4 to 1.

If we deleted all of Peters postings the ratio would be far more balanced. Prefect to Bandit ratio would be down to almos 1.2 to 1.

The combined (Prefect and Bandit) to (performance related topic) is in the region of 9.6 to 1. This is only in the blah de blah.

If we were to draw up a computer enhanced diagramatic representation of The US Senate and replace the democrats with the prefects and the bandits with the Republicans and the On topic postings as "independant." It would look exactly the same as the US Senate did in 1872.

Apparently 67% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

                I'm a vector man myself. I wish I had a Mac.

You just threw away the moral high ground by swearing. Was Peter getting the better of you? You must be weakening or something.

There is however, the fact that you don't post on the subject of performing very often. How many balloon models can you make now?

Lynneski has posted 269 times (0.17 per day) and every single one is worth reading.

BTW Magrat, you should try balloon vegetables, "the orange", "the pea", "the french bean" and "the melon". They're much easier than "the poodle".

I'm still waiting patiently for Magrat to say something about performing (here at performers.net.)

                            Jim

P.S. Steven, where did you get the data and how did you make the graphs?

                              Jim,

The data was just copied and pasted from the members page and the graphs generated in Excel. Ten minutes tops.

                              Jester,

                              Kathy (Magrat2005),
Are you interested in performing? The U.K. offers many opportunities for you to get involved with it from both on and off stage. There are several circus schools that offer night classes as well as pitches for street work (or so I'm lead to believe).
