    over rated movies

it was snowing all day so I just watched movies.

I have to say Garden State was a total piece of crap and completely over rated. Natalie Portman (real name: Natalie Hirschlogg) is utter shit and "qwirky" for the sake of "qwirky" gets old REAL fast. Cliches galore, this movie is as authentic as a pair of pre-faded jeans. On a scale from 1-10 I give this movie an F-

So many movies are overrated! It's true. For instace... "The Forgotten." What a pile of crap!!

However... I disagree with you on Garden State. Zach Braff could have made a film debut that was a lot worse. While I agree that Portman may not have been the best choice for that role, how could you not laugh when you see her "brother" for the first time, or when they're all clapping after the ice-skating bit and the lights go out? I thought it was pretty good.

But one of the best movies I've seen in the last year had to have been... The Incredibles. I mean, it was so cleverly written, and that's something WE, of all peoples, should be able to appreciate!

    Peace!

Well, I don't want to labor the point about Garden State, but it was a series of forced gags that didn't really advance the story (for example, Portman's "epilipsy" was only implied so they could do that really lame "helmet" gag. Thankfully they didn't have some Benny & Joon moment when she has a seizure and Zach has to shove a stick in her frothing mouth to keep her from gagging). Every joke and 'sentimental moment' was pounded home and they treated the audience like we were as retarded. I thought the writing was good, but wonder how the film would have been if Braff chose to allow someone else to direct it-- someone with experience and understands subtlty.

Haven't seen the incredibles-- it was on non-stop rotation on the Disney Cruises I was working but I kept the TV off and read books instead.

Just rented BAAAAAAADAASSSSS!!!, I hope it's good.

I just saw Shawn of the Dead, that movie was surprisingly pretty good...not as bad as i thought.
Also I saw Employee of the Month last nite, good movie, a lot of twists!

Garden State was an ok movie. I like the music that was in it.

I saw shawn of the dead and I was disappointed because I am a big fan of Dylan Moran and Simon Pegg.

The saving grace was Dylan Moran actually acting and playing somebody else other than Dylan Moran. Other than that it was far less potent that "Spaced" which was a great TV series.

Yes it was alright... by expected more than alright.... Simon Pegg is very gifted and has done far better stuff...

I never said it was bad, I said I was disappointed..

                  Hmm...

One of my meetings got cancelled today, so I had the opportunity to watch american daytime television. Bored out of my mind- I subjected myself to 2 hours of "Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story" on VH1. I'm not proud of it- and I know that it was never "overrated" or "underrated". I just felt guilty enough to post it. If anyone else here has seen it- you know what I'm talking about...but I'll bet my '89 Honda Prelude on the fact that no one here (or anywhere else) has seen this movie the whole way through. Please don't create an opinion of me off of this- we all know we've watched some horrible shit when nothing else was done and nothing else was on.

Moral of the story: if you have nothing better to do than watch television during the daytime- take a nap.

I don't care about the Mc hammer thing. I'm just pissed that you're an American that drives a Honda prelude !!
Go to your video store and ask if they have any Serbian movies, most of them are pretty good.
I've never heard of any of the movies you guys are talking about, but thats eastern europe for you, we'll probably get them in a couple of years, or maybe longer considering Croatia just got rejected by the EU.

                      bad TV

A&E is definately the channel for TV so bad it's art. "City Confidential" is probably my all time favourite. They basically take small town / city murders and sensationalize them with tabloid hyperbole and over the top metaphorical narration.

I have just watched The Two Towers and The Fellowship of The Ring and I am delighted to report that it is not at all over rated. I'm gonna have to go buy the third one whatever that's called now.

Unfortunately I do not feel the same for the Books which I felt were a very tedious narrative compared to The Hobbit which was blimming amazing.

LOTR is crap, I couldn't sit still for 3 hours and watch that crap, though I did watch the first one, and thought it was....crap. The third one is 'Return Of The King' my sister told me that ....which is also crap....

You know magrat, the fact that you have a short attention span doesn't necessarily make someone else's work crap. Maybe you should watch some of Peter Jackson's earlier work, like "Bad Taste" (should be right up your alley) "Meet the Feebles" or Dead Alive" (my personal favorite). Even if those don't change your opinion of LOTR, they WILL show you how completely !@#?ing incredible it is that hollywood even came near him.
