The Producers is great. Shows what can happen when a filmaker can think above the waistline.

    non-sequitor thought of the day:

Maybe I should use a porn film crew for my next promo video. These guys can make asses look good on film, so my face shouldn't be much of a challenge.

That may be the funniest thing you've ever posted.

it is funny... but, you must consider that it's someone else's quote. that is a mel brooks quote.

props to etienne for posting it, though.

the producers is one of my favorite movies of all time.

            Oops

I am humbled and ashamed to have not recognized that as a quote.

Thanks for the 411, as the hep youth say.

              HEP, HEP, HEP...

does that make me a "hep youth?" as i've said that before...

i thought you stopped being a youth of any variety when you crossed the big 3-0 line... (and, since it's been nearly three years since that happened... i guess i'm more towards middle age at this point. grr.)

you should be shamed that you didn't recognize the quote. SHAME STEPHON! SHAME, SHAME!

              kidding.

i also love zero mostel. i should state that now for the record. it's hard to love a dead man - but, i do. I LOVE HIM!

              the producers rocks!

Has anybody seen "The Silent Flute."?

Bruces Lee conception, made after his death, interesting in a really bullshit pseudo alternative philosopher kind of way.

                  Sequals - Crap or Good?

No, I haven't but I've got another question - is the first movie better then all the follow ups? cuz I was watching Tomb Raider the other day and I was thinking, should I watch the first one or the sequal,....then I thought well the sequals not that good so I watched the first one, but it just seems that most of the time the sequals crap....though some films do have good sequals

                    SEQUELS

                    depends on the movie.

think of the original star wars trilogy.

a new hope (star wars 1) was pretty awesome... but, empire strikes back (star wars 2) was TOTALLY awesome.

think of the evil dead trilogy.

                    evil dead 1 - good.
                    evil dead 2 - better.
army of darkness - A FUCKING AWESOME MOVIE!

or, conversely you have the most current star wars trilogy:
star wars - a phantom menace... sucked.
star wars - attack of the clones... didn't suck as bad.
star wars (what's the tag name for the new one?)... supposedly is damn good.

or you have examples like the indiana jones series:
raiders of the lost ark - brilliant.
temple of doom - worst movie in the entire universe.
                    last crusade - brilliant.

then there are the harry potter movies - which i've not been really into in the first place. but, they have progressively gotten better as they've gone along.

and, of course - kill bill. two examples of the most brilliant film making on the planet. of course they were shot as one film - so i don't know that they count.

                    okay.
                    enough out of me.
                    peace,
                    k

EDIT: i thought of another trilogy which is a good example: the scream movies. the first one rocked. the second one sucked and the third one was pretty decent.

As a rule of thumb Prequels are better than sequals.

Star Wars is a good example.

There are exceptions, the prequel to 9and half weeks featured Mickey Rourkes first sexual experience, it was called "9 and a half Seconds." It was short if nothing else.

i disagree. the star wars prequels are not as good as the original star wars series. granted - they explain a lot & add to the mythos which has been created out of the original star wars movies... but, come on! even ewoks are better than fucking jar-jar binks.

there are many prequels which are fine movies - but, i think there are far more sequels which are better than the originals, rather than prequels better than originals or sequels.

                        just my .02 cents.

                        peace out,
                        k

yeah but Temple of Doom is sooooooo bad that its great. Every b-movie cliche in less than 2 hours! However if you really want a bad sequal, try jurassic park 2. And if you haven't had enough punishment after that... then go for Jurrasic park 3. Still havent had enough? Jaws 2,3 and 4. Let's keep going: Stayin' Alive- the sequal to Saturday Night Fever directed by Syslvester Stallone. speaking of which- Rocky II-V.

Oh, and if I was quoting mel brooks I didn't even know it. I was watching one of those late night HBO shows about a family of pornographers and the camera man commented that his job was to make asses look good.

Watch the New Dr Who as soon as it shows in your area.

                            It is good.

                              GHOSTWORLD

true, etienne - temple of doom is every bad movie cliche in two hours... but, the ripping the heart out of the chest frightened me as a child and i've never been able to get past it.

i didn't care for either of those john travolta movies...

amazing - you inadvertantly created a mel brooks quote out of thin air... you are amazing.... indeedy.

okay - here's my over-rated movie of the day: GHOSTWORLD

not nearly as amusing as the comic.
and, i vaugely know the people who made the movie (well - my flat mate knows them)... and, apparently they made a far superior movie which she cannot remember the name of. but, someone gave me this dvd for xmas... we recently watched it (me being a fan of the comic - she knowing the people who made the movie) and neither one of us was impressed.

                              it was pedantic and pointless.

                              anyhoo...
though, i'll say that i like scarlet johansson just on priciple... as in: she's hot.

whatever. of to teach munchkins improv.
                              later.

                                You didn't like Ghostworld?!!??!?

I loved it!!! True the comic is much much different, but I thought the movie was excellent. I even bought the soundtrack...
