According to my sources Don Partridge and Alan Young (both muso's) were the first to open up Covent Garden (in 1964) with circle shows ... before that time the "Old One's" (beggar types) ruled the streets of London.
    Anyone have any more(or different)info.?

      Carrie (surname unknown) (OZ)
      Christie (Mdm Buskerfly)(Can)
      Karen Murphy (NZ)
Is the legendary Kim Kaos (US/OZ) still performing?
And is Petra Massey (UK) still performing?

              Thanks B. man,
Don Partridge eh? Have to look into that.

I think there must have been some forms of circle shows going on way back in the 19th century, if not before. Covent Garden and London in general conjures up some great imagery - Dark, dank, cobblestones, those great Covent Garden pillars, carriages, Jack the ripper, travelling medicine men, rich toffs, all mixed up with court jesters doin a turn.
It would be good to look into the Covent Garden archives.
              Anyone else got any info?

Don Partridge was called by some folks 'the King of the Buskers' and Alan Young 'the Court Jester of Busking' back in the late 60's ... In 1967 Don Partridge had a brief flash with fame with a hit song. In a much publicized event, he soon gave up the glitz and glory of the big time and returned to busking.
