I've done Key West ... it was great in the '70's

First, of all ... if anyone thinks that Gazzo wrote any of his own posts listed below ... they are an idiot.

#1) Gazzo can't write

If I had known he stole my "Read Between the Lines Jokebook" and published it under his name (all he used was some editor to change it around a little) I never would have written the forward to the book ... btw in the book (which Danny Hustle sent me because he figured out what was going on before I did) it attributes lines to me that I didn't write and lines to others that I did ... it's not even accurate ... it's total bullshit ...

when I confronted Gazzo about it ... he just says "Let it go Robert Let it go"


man, if I had only known when he had his stroke on Venice beach that he was going to do that in the future, I would'uve covered him with sand.

Truth is that everyone working Mallory Square was so pissed at Gazzo for writing the 1st post slamming everybody and everything he had to kiss their ass with his last post or it would have been just another place the great Gazzo has been booted out of. He's been kicked out of more pitches than most people have worked!

I understand back peddling, he has to work and live with those people he slamed.
I was there for 18 years.
I started the performers Committee.
The venders have always been a problem !.

All four are back stabers !, Big egos.
They don't support outher performers rights !.

If you have a good or great act and are thinking about performing in Key West / Mallory Square forget it.
They will try to get you booted, because they can't compete.

I call them the lier's and cryer's.

Ask them about Escape Artist Tim Eric, the reply will not be good.

But those of you who know me Know the truth !.

I am sure there will be post later slaming me.

Like they slamed Gazzo !.

fantasyfest update....

Butts and boobs are everywhere!!!! I'm sitting at Higgs beach on a beautiful morning, it's about 70 degrees and gorgeous!!! I've been here for three days and have pulled off two good shows a night. Once again I'd like to thank everyone here for there hospitality.

There isn't a lot of acts here which surprises me considering the amount of tourists.

Will, Johnny, Michael P., Jeep, Bible Bill, Mustafa and Joseph are the only acts here right now including myself.

Tonight, Tom (from Boulder), who arrived last night, will perform on Mallory for the first time. I hope all goes well Tom!!!!

The dog parade is today and we get to work a few extra hours. Should be a great night!!!

The sunsets are fabulous and aside from one whinner, i couldn't have asked for a better trip.

I'll be heading back to Clearwater tommorrow night, missing the craziness of the BIG weekend.

sitting in the back of the van as the old lady drives north on US 1 out of the Keys and I must say I has a great time down there
once again.

The crowds tonight sucked, but I could see how their attention span was slowly getting worse by the night. There is so much craziness going on around the island. If you've never been, you MUST!!!!! Words can't describe this festival.

And, as of midnight fri, Michael is still in custody.

What is actually going on there????? Four performers arrested? So what else has happened lately?

I was first invited there in 1991 by Love 22 (same year I met Steven Baird) but was never able to get there. To me, it sounded like a very cool scene and I've been trying to get there for years. It's probably the last of the "legendary" pitches that I would have gone out of my way to work for a couple of weeks* but now it's beginning to sound like it isn't worth it.

In my 20 odd years (and I mean odd) of busking I have been to court for busking rights, helped write Melb's busking rules in the 90's that became a model for cities and towns in Aust, NZ and other places Canada and the US and am still hassling Melb City about our rights. Steven Baird has worked tirelessly for 15-20 years for performers rights in the States and you guys, who are the custodians of the performance reputation and future of Key West, can't control yourselves.

Pablo's reference to shooting yourself in the foot, in the other thread mentioned above, is getting tragically funnier by the minute.

*This says a lot about what I thought of the place, right or wrong. For a start it is in America but on top of that, if the chance had come about, I probably would have even paid my own airfare and accommodation.

Jim, 3 arrest: Rondini was arrested off mallory for child abuse. He has a history of domestic violence. his name is Ron Porter and you may look under www.keysso.net to find all his charges. Mark Riggs was busted for heroin sales etc. Casy ? was busted for pills/drugs etc.
