I didn't know him well but two Edmonton fests and some peripherals and it was easy to see he was a deserving fixture and a dedicated lighthearted guy.
Don't have any more details but have this on good authority.
He'll be missed.

I only crossed paths with Hokum twice, but he was always someone I was pleased to see on and off the pitch. I remember in Waterloo 2004, he took me aside and told me that "at these festivals, it's all about the hang."
Having done more festivals and knowing more people now, the times that I recall memories from them have indeed focused on my company. A sad reminder that yes, it is all about the hang, and you can never take seeing someone down the road for granted.
RIP Hokum.Comment

Got this information on FB:
Memorial Celebration:
HOKUM W. JEEBS ~ 1950 - 2011
“Be honest and real; it almost always works. If it’s not working, step away gracefully. And never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time, and it annoys the pig.”
Dear Friends and Family,
You were a part of the life of our dear Professor Hokum W. Jeebs. We share your grief as we all mourn his tragic passing.
We would like to invite you to be a part of Hokum’s memorial celebration, to be held at Hale’s Palladium 4301 Leary Way NW in Seattle on Monday, April 11. (Doors open at 6:00, program begins 7-ish.)
Your gift of performance or sharing of thoughts and memories (or both) would be very welcome.
If you are unable to attend but would like to share your thoughts, please send them to the email address below and we will see that they are read at the gathering. We are working on being able to have a “live feed” of the event for those who cannot be there in person (exact details to follow).
Thank you so much for the love you had for Hokum. It’s going to be a GREAT celebration!

Hallowed Halls
A music man with magic hands
Striking notes you cannot chart
On dishes filled with clacking teeth
Served us laughter á la cart
He serenaded us through mufflers
Sang the blues with a kazoo
His one-man brand of comedy
An Eccentric Music Revue
He dressed himself in ragtime
Tickled ivories with such grace
And entertained so classically
With that smile upon his face
The hallowed halls of heaven
Now echo with the sound
Of wing applauding angels
As Hokum circles roundComment
