The wonderful Kim Merry has passed away in Nelson, New Zealand after a long battle with cancer.

For many people Kim will be remembered as an inspired artist and teacher who was fundamental in bringing Commedia Del ‘Arte mask theatre traditions to New Zealand and for some he will also be known as the director of various great events like the Nelson Buskers Festival and the Nelson Arts Festival’s Mask Parade.

Those first Nelson fests were a hoot and she was a lovely host. She certainly did her best to get a community based festival up and running in the wake of Ch-ch.

She'll be missed.
