he was one of the good guys alright. he turned his pation into a machine and and played the audience like we've never seen before. he will be missed by everyone. CRIKEY!
Steve was one cool dude. I went to his wildlife zoo a few years back and he put on some wicked big big shows all about conservation. The crowds loved it when he fed his crocs.
I read that he pulled out the stingray barb from his heart/chest before he died - wow.
He signed his hat and gave it to me - I still have it.
I'm deeply saddened but I was always taught not to fuck with animals, dangerous or otherwise. We caught snakes as kids and sold them to the Commonwealth Serum Laboratory, we never annoyed them. I used to cringe at some of the things he did but knew his heart was in the right place and expected he'd mellow some day. Sadly, we won't see how powerful he may have been as an advocate for our environment and what it contains.
It seems unfair he was taken out by a fish that Bev, Diana, Ulla and I swim with every time we go to our local beach.
I hurt for his family and those close to him and lament what the rest of us may have lost.
Vale, Steve Irwin.

I am saddened by the news of such a loss...but I also believ he was on some serious borrowed time, he put himself at risk so many times...it is almost as if fate said "we are going to make you go in a really random virtually unheard of way!"
