I'm here. I'm wondering if there is a software problem. The website now makes me log in fresh each time. Didn't used to be that way.

There were some server meltdowns over the past month or so. My hosting service fixed things pretty quickly when they happened, but the site was up and down a few times. We actually lost everything and had to do a full restore of the database from a back-up at one point. Very frustrating.

If you're having to log in each time, try logging out, deleting all performers.net cookies from your browser (there could be 5-10 of them), and then log in again. Old cookies will cause log-in confusion.

I think the overall slowness around here is due to Facebook and the millions of other ways people communicate on the web these days. I don't worry about traffic. I'm realistic about it. This site doesn't earn a penny... It costs me money. But as long as I'm around, I'll make sure it stays right where it is. It's not the communication tool it once was, but it's still quite an archive of information. I'm happy it exists.

Oh, and another thing... I had a kid about a year ago and he takes up every second of my 'free time'. My brain has been on other things these days. If I'm slow to respond to registration requests or moderation duties, that's why. I honestly don't log in every single day. I try, but time just seems to slip away lately.

jim@performers.net does go straight to my inbox, if anyone ever needs to reach me directly.

              Missing myself

I used to love this place... it still is so much a part of my past ... wouldn't it be great to rekindle it... do I have any more to add? I mean now with this podcast thing and all the other websites I'm on I hardly ever come here but I remember the early days when we all chatted and bickered together... ahhhh those were the days eh?
And yeah, you rock Jim... always have in my book.

It was like we were a little community if international performers, and we would write our thoughts, and reflect on what had been written. I was happy.

                      what? What? WHAT?

Curb your sense of entitlement folks, 'you only get out of this school what you put into it.'

If you can find a trickle of nimrods with inflated senses of themselves coupled with a spectacular blindness as it concerns their brittle character vulnerabilities then I'm prepared to provide literary napalm and apart from that I'll post projects and bits of writing as they come along. Not that any of this is about me just you know .....

Anyway, entertain me you fuckers, you owe me.

Jim, thanks again for your invaluable contribution to the art and science of busking. The p.net site was crucial to my development as a street performer. When all seemed bleak and incomprehensible I could sign on a get a shot in the arm of confidence from others on the site. Since I no longer travel extensively (I'm 74 and in poor health) I stick pretty close to New Orleans to work. But I still garner hope and encouragement from the posts here. I do hope y'all will continue to argue, gripe, heckle and share. May the craft of busking continue to grow and prosper. May p.net be among the leaders in encouraging that growth and prosperity!
