    Morals, Ethics, etc...

Five years ago, I finally got up the nerve to busk with my magic show.

This was at a large (in comparison to anything local) festival. The coordinator at the time, felt I needed to pay a booth fee.

I agreed to it. Hey, I'm not that stupid, anymore. I broke even, if you consider the fee, milage, day off work, etc.

The new coordinator phoned me, and asked me a couple of questions... She had no idea what was going on. She then asked me how much I had charged in the past. After a grandpa trick (pretending not to hear, while I think of an answer), I quoted her a my current festival rate, after she asked me a second time.

I feel a little dirty about this, but I shouldn't.

        huh!?!

You're darn right you should not feel guilty. You are providing a valuable service, your show, and they are paying whatever you mutually agreed to. What could be better?

That's very fair for them and you (if local and hat pass decent). Don't feel guilty! Paying to play in the past is one of the things that entitles us to get paid now. Go you!
