Pitch Politics. Out with the old in with the new.

So what do you guys think will happen to pitches that have "pitch politics" i.e. key west(never been but have heard of the rules), venice beach, etc

You think that once the few people that demand the rules are out things completely change - or someone else comes in and makes it last like that forever.

at least down here on venice beach - the men with the iron fists are incredibly out there. so its not like you can ever change their mind. - it's just a waiting game of them moving into an old persons home or someone going crazy, stealing a bus and running each one of those delusional head-cases over.

just curious as to what people think - will there always be someone crazy making the rules for the pitch.

    yes

your best bet is to get so good that you can shut down their show by doing your show close by. Make it so they are the ones who are wasting the pitch by not being good enough. Also be a little crazy yourself; get a little pissed off and break something, or cut your hand and fling your blood at them. Once the rules start to work in your favor due to your status you won't want them to change, or you will start booking better gigs and won't care anymore. I always kind of liked that you had to learn to be a dick to be a successful street performer.
Venice sucks, you have to be crazy to have a good show there, that's what those people want.... that's why that talentless piece of shit rollerblade guy with a guitar is so famous.

I saw that rollerblader guy today! Hahahahhaha.
I guess the Calypso Tumblers teamed up with Fred from Pogo Dudes and they are doing shows down there all the time. Venice beach does suck - but it's so tempting going down there and seeing all the people. - it makes you feel the itch to perform even though you can't.

Come on down! This year I chose not to be part of the performers committee, as chairman of the performers, or to be on the board of directors. We now have jugglers in those positions.I.e. jugglers rule!So come on down Evan, juggalicious and bring that roller blade guy with you,as we could use a little creative imagination here.
