A story and an open request

OK this morning I got an email and I'm steamed.

10 years ago I lived in Perth and I broke up with my partner of 4 years Tania. I had a lot of stuff, over 1000 books but I left everything but a couple of boxes of stuff, I think about 4 boxes, a diary of travels through Europe, some antique books "How to judge people" etc and some favorite books "The wasp factory"etc, some negitives and some tapes of shows.

Toby wittington, [humanoid] offered to store them in his fremantle studio, so I did.

I met him at the Windsor fest one or two years later, [I think it was about a year and a half, and i gave him some money [$100 or $200, I forget] to set about looking for shipping.

Time passed and then I get the first of many emails over the years, rather than admitting he simply spent the money he redefined the whole thing and put it down to a downpayment on 'storage costs' and tried to hit me up for more.

This stuff had huge sentimental value to me and i really didn't want to have it thrown out but i thought the whole thing was a bit slimey.

So I get emails from time to time and it just pisses me off, the "i will chuck your stuff out if you don't pay me bullshit hidden in the new slightly 80's tinged "I'm a businessman now" bollocks-speak.
I've researched shipping and even years back sent him a link to a local international shipping service and told him to get it priced. Nothing happened because Toby wants his own income dealt with first. [This is just my speculation]

    {Toby is not a performer any more, now he's a fashion designer}

So this morning I get the latest, "It's been 10 years" email and he's itemised everything, he has photos of my books, my negatives, etc etc. There are a couple of things missing, I remember he asked me whether he could have one or two things and now fuck him i want them back. and now he's hitting me up for the itemisation as an additional "service" and wants to get the shipping done in a "timely manner"

    Fucker, greasy little 7foot wanker.

So i will pay him, I will pay the fucker [again] what he asks for his little extortion gig,

and then i will be rid of the cunt, some fucking favor.

So 10 years have passed, I probably can get my ex to pick this stuff up and i'll pay for shipping, obviously Toby would charge by the hour for moving stuff to the door.

But I'd rather have some other Perth based person to deal with.I'll give it 48 hours, It's 4 boxes. I'll pay you, because i don't want to pay him a cent more than whatever he fucking demands of me in his reply to the email i've just sent him where i called him an extorting cunt.

If you are in Perth, or you know anyone in Perth {my contacts have moved on, Alex and Bizcircus have all changed emails and i've lost contact] then please consider helping.

I will now have my second cup of coffee.

Thanks, Alex marshall would help but I have no idea where he is, he ended up being the entertainment something-or-other at Joodalup university.

I liked Alex a lot, he showed me how to make a website and initially made mine.

you just know this is going to end badly

He's emailed me back and said that there's still an 11kg box [oooh 11kg] that he hasn't 'documented' yet and whatevers missing is probably in there, and also a poster tube [oooh a poster tube] that he hasn't taken his expensive little photodocumentation services of yet.

I've told him to stop working on it, I'll have someone pick it up within 2 weeks and i don't want to pay him any more than I have to for his 'services' given he can charge what he wants.

        asshole.

          ok now he's backed off.

I asked him for his total in the last e-mail and he's said "It's not necessary" and that if someone could pick it up that would be ideal.

so I'm off free if i can get the stuff away from him.

OK first in first serve, I'll pay $50us, via paypal immediately to whoever picks it up and stores it for no longer than three months, in that time I'll price the postage [if they could weigh it that would help] from perth to Hawaii.

                Sorry Martin
not a first in first serve kind of thing. I said if Scott (who is a performer) cant help I will get my brother (who is performer sympathetic) to help.
I would of course prefer to see performers take care of performers.
Gav, I dont know Scott that well, only met him a couple of times before I left WA.
So, like I said before, let me know if you need me to do this. I would be adding to a long list of favours I owe my brother.
                Takk

Well I gotta say the community fronted up with this one. Scott's picking/picked the stuff up, I've paid him something, Toby's withdrawn the 'storage and 'itemisation' fee's. i mean I can recognise it's a pain to have shit hanging round that's not yours.
and i have the opportunity to more straightforwardly look at retrieving my stuff. So thanks gav for facilitating it. I owe you a beer and a plastic sheet on your couch.
