Holy Crap, I did this exact same thing about 8 years ago at Faneuil Hall.
I worked it out with the guy ahead of time. He came to me and asked if he could propose to his girlfriend during one of my shows. (They were "regular" Jim Show fans who came to the show at least once a week.) The guy and I worked out a routine that looked very similar to what you did... right down to the blindfold and the cue cards for the crowd. After setting everything up, I played "their song" and removed her blindfold and he proposed. The crowd went nuts, I wrapped up the show and the guy who proposed dropped a couple hundred bucks in my hat.
I have it on tape, too... from two camera angles!Comment

and so begins a stock routine
I got it from two camera angles too, the one posted is from a friend, and my camera angle is in HD! I also had a photographer there. http://picasaweb.google.com/grimes.s...bor428081040PM
so there!
The guy asked if he could pay me and I said no. I'm sure he threw something in the bucket, but it was for sure not a couple hundred. The hat was probably about 30%-50% above average, nothing spectacular.
I must confess that I did not write the bit. All my new material lately has been written by Jonathan Burns and Noelle Stone* (Burk).Comment
