    what are you reading...

it's winter and I tend to read more this time of year... and I imagine you are too.

Picked up Orson Wells 1984 to reread.... read it 16 years ago and of course everyone remembers the overwhelming impression. But the details. Shit. The details.

    What are you reading?

    etienne

p.s. another re-read is "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly" just as good in English as it is in French

      I just finished reading:

      Steve Martin: Born Standing up.
Really a great look into the mind of a stand-up and very inspiring to read.

      The Time traveler's wife
It was a good read, kinda sci-fi romance drama twilight zoney.

      I am now reading:

      Why is that so funny?
      an exploration of physical comedy.

Just about finished with The Final Confessions of Mabel Stark. Great look at circus history and an amazing performer and interesting woman.

For fiction I am reading "Bloodshot" by Stuart MacBride. A crime novel based in Aberdeen Scotland. For the other stuff I am reading Michael Port's Book Yourself Solid" and also some writings by Eugene Burger on performance.

                  Avner recommends:

"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen

I just finished "Hawaii & Points South" by A. Grove Day and am eagerly anticipating a slew of Jack London's stuff from Amazon.

I am also intrigued about the book "The Diving Bell & the Butterfly" after the movie version won "best foreign language film" at the Golden Globes and I later found out it was written one letter at a time ...

Wow, imagine what Martin could do if he had a stroke.

bitter one - go see the movie (Diving Bell) - I read it first but it's one of those rare ones where the movie actually is as good as the book - the last one I can remember that hit that is High Fidelity

                        Books...

Someone recently suggested "The World Is Flat" to me as an interesting book. Funny to hear that there is a juggling comment in it.
"Water for Elephants", by the way, is a great story. I very much enjoyed it.
I am currently reading "700 Sundays" by Billy Crystal and "Nature Girl" by Carl Hiaasen.

Just picked up Murakami's "After Dark", and as soon as I'm through with the guilty pleasure of "Dead Heat" by Dick Francis, I'm sure the Murakami will rock, as usual.

"Water for Elephants" was fantastic. Best ending ever, anywhere.
