    Bush & barcodes

I heard somewhere that bush was surprised to see barcode technology in a grocery store while on his campaign trail. He had not been in a store in over 20 years. Does anyone have links to info on this?

Assuming you're referring to the Jr. I wouldn't be terribly surprised, but I would laugh a great deal knowing that his father actually awarded Woodland, co-inventor of the "Classifying Apparatus and Method" technology that we call barcodes, the 1992 National Medal of Technology.

Scot, That's a well known Bush SR. story. He was at a photo-op in a grocery store on the campaign trail back in 1991 or 1992 and when he went to the register, the woman started scanning his items. After a couple of "beep...beep...beeps" he stopped and picked up a box and looked at the barcode with a bewildered look.

It's on video. I'll go look for it.

Well I guess I'm a little bit wrong. I swear I saw video of this! I guess it was one of those things caught on tape and then spun to make him look bad.
