            I. Me. You. What about we?

That failure to make eye contact = insulation. If you don't see it you can pretend it doesn't exist and you won't have to do anything about it. This applies to everything from stepping past a homeless lump of rags and blankets to fearing to engage the corner tough in any sort of interaction to walking between someone and the shelves of tinned soups or rental movies they're considering. Rampant insularity has killed polite exchange and is closing in on empathy.

I hate it that we have to witness disaster on extreme scales before being motivated to do anything about it.

I hate it when I nod and say goodmorning to a passing oldster walking on the streets of my neighbourhood that they look up surprised and initially a little fearful because they've learned to keep their eyes on their feet.

They are both symptoms of the same Iness.

hey bud, beat it ... that's MY spot!

It is too simplistic to identify religion as the singular problem with the world today (although, definitely, one could easily make a case of it).

Politics, religion and unbalanced economics probably all equally share in that distinction.

Initially, an economic issue such as “keep your fuckin’ non-opposable thumbs off my nuts” was the cause of much rancor in the animal kingdom. With the advent of groups (and thumbs) some form of food function apportionment led to a primitive form of politics. Then, like today, when the carnivore in question had a little too much free time they decided to apply moral judgments to the actions of others to justify their own hedonism … thus religion.

Neither politics, economics nor even religion are inherently wrong in and of themselves. It is when the guy next door tries to stuff his ideology down your throat is when most problems occur.

So, Glass Harper, I gotta side with you … in the end it’s all a matter of too little legroom.

Either that or maybe it’s those dumb beer commercials … its gotta be one of the two.

                Greedy People
                Unhappy people

there are studies that show that spending more time with friends and family is the only thing that truly makes people more happy. In some country's they will place very large taxes on every dollar you make in a year past a certain threshold (say 75k). If every dollar you make beyond 75k is subject to 80% taxes, you probably wouldn't be so driven to keep working, and would spend that time with your friends and family, which would make you happy.

Happy people are more healthy and get along better.
                ^it's just a theory

I agree with other things said too. I'd also like to add "The Arctic monkeys" and "The Streets" to the list of problems, cuz their music sucks.
