I can't believe I auditioned for this (Except It turned out well, got some gigs from contacts I made that day). It was painful to watch this show. Judging with terrible. But... Surprisingly all the Jugglers made it to the next round. First guy was even a worst juggler/ entertainer then me (not sure name) juggled knives on rola bola for 1 min so he could stay on show. Followed by Ivan Parcel -who got a little into it w/ David Hasselhoff and got crowd support w/ Moshe help to stay on show, and lastly Vladik; who kicked ass. Anyway, wondering why they even put the first guy on, knowing the talent of other two Jugglers.
it's tv - everyone that made it through had some sort of gimmick like the dude in the cow suit - or that guy with the dog tricks - everyones favorite part of that was when the dog walked across the stage in a shark outfit - how hard is that to do.
nbc already knows who they want to win so they set the show up to make certain acts look great and make other types of entertainment look terrible. but I will say the judges are terrible and I'm glad I didnt make it onto the show -
the judges are terrible and don't know what they are talking about.
that guy that got in for gospel never even sang... I want everyone at nbc to die - if they want to ahve a talent show they should give all aspects of talent a chance. because you know that ivan is probably one of the only ones that spends a few hours a day practicing. Not that the other acts don't have talent they just clearly did not have to put in as much effort or time as Ivan did - yet he was one of the weakest acts.
the dude with the nose harmonica got more time than he did.
It seems like they are trying for a Jerry Springer meets the Gong Show thing. I don't think the producers care about the acts. It's really about the judges and the audience getting all riled up as the English guy heaps abuse on the weaker acts and everybody laughs at the losers. I'm sure they rehearsed every thing we saw and I'm sure the producer coached some of the gonged acts to argue back. It's about aggression, shame and humiliation. I hope the public doesn't buy into it. The dog act is great, though and he has a cool video on his web site here http://www.doggonesilly.com/
I got a call for that when they were doing the initial casting. It sounded to me exactly the way everyone is describing it, so I said "No thanks" and left it at that.
So I guess we know what they think of juggling acts ...
Vladik, almost groomed from birth to be a dynamic, polished professional gets a "You should be working Santa Monica Boulevard" from one of the judges ...
I watched last night, once again painfully. Judges wanted acts to show something different and when they did; Judges didn't like it. Pretty much all the acts did there ‘A’ stuff first just to get to next round.
Take Vladik, someone correct me if I am wrong but Last weeks act was from when he won Seniors at IJA (cirque style) and the act last night (originally wore white puffy pants and red glittery vest) he won the Junior at IJA. Anyway my girlfriend thought he was pretty good because he had three talents together: Dance, Juggling, and Acrobatics. But it really blow my mind that they could think of Vladik as a street performer. What could his next act possible be?
What the judges really want is a guy like Master Juggler Gregory Popovich who like old circus tradition does three great staged acts. Juggling, Domestic Cat Act, Russian Style Circus Clown.
Wondering other people you all consider have many diverse but prolific talents?
PS Robert I am too polite to say what the judges might have thought of you (I will leave that to someone else)...
I mean sure ... they are not real judges ... and maybe the show really doesn't matter ... and Vladik can go back to his 1500 a week gig (whatever he gets) but I'm just saying ...
that kid took juggling seriously ... and (as my dear departed father used to say) "he got his ass handed to him on a platter" ... it seemed somehow wrong ...
and yeah, keith ... it probably wouldn't be a good idea ... thanks for being so polite ...
Hey Vladik, if you are out there (or someone who talks to him on a regular basis is out there):
Fuck that show, bro. You killed it. They don't understand what you are doing, and never will. David Hasselhoff is still bitter that his only career option in this country is kitsch value. He's a punchline. He is worth more as a picture on a vintage lunchbox than as a performer.
You have respect from the viewing public, your fellow performers, and booking agents around the world.
I think that means a helluva lot more than one middle-aged man in a leather jacket trying to make himself look cool by crapping on jugglers.
And if you have any doubts about what a hack turd he is, check this out:
what got me was he said something along the lines of:
"It's not that I don't think it's good, It just doesn't compare to all these other acts up here that have real talent."
I don't know how a person could think that and almost think that the producers paid him off to take such a ridiculous stance on juggling. Juggling is like the only thing on the show that comes from pure hard work and training and talent. Big deal he may or may not have dropped a ball but the singers fudged up half the songs and most of them aren't even that good. you don't see them being nearly as harsh to them. I guess we are all aware that the show totally sucks yet that doesnt stop me from watching it every week.
