Yes!
watching the pure joy and excitement of
Axe slamming out beats on a variety of garbage cans and props in the chorus girl room was inspirational!
Mr. Wilson and I are humming along with bits that have us rolling in the living room....more drumming tomorrow and the idea of workshopping with you Peter is fantastic!
YES, YES, YES!
I'd love to work with you and show you what we've got and build this genius baby up.
everyone else, keep the ideas clickng!
the process of push/pull-build/reduce is a good one.
Yo, Butterfly, oh genius winged one, what's your two cents?Comment

I think every show could use some dancing chimps dressed up like strippers, a musical cameo by the Oslen Twins, and Steve Gutenburg in a pair of cut-off daisy dukes. Now THAT'S a show. Pure class.
OH! And do you know anyone who's been on a reality show?? that could boost your popularity too, I think.

I just saw the strangest thing on TV. The "World Paper Stacking Championships" in Germany, competed for by 1000's of schoolkids from all over Europe (true, really, I mean it). Paper cups of course featured heavily and I have no idea what this has to do with drumming but it was very inspiring.
Can we work paper cups into this thing? Paper stacking could be the next "big thing". What if the Japanese discover this before we do?

Ironically, the man responsible for creating "Cup Stacking", Bob Fox, a school gym teacher was also a Busker. Mainly hobby but he did do the Denver fest a couple (at least) times quite a few years ago. Really nice guy and I thought about posting his name in the famous buskers thread.
The cups they use are plastic and have 3 small holes in the bottom to increase speed. My thought is that without any kind of modification or amplification the sound would not hold up in a street show but I could be really wrong here. I have a set that I'll play with to see if I can help with any ideas. It also might be worth contacting Bob for ideas, I'm sure he would be open to it if you guys are interested in incorporating this in your show. I'm sure he could be reached from the contact stuff in the link Gaz posted but it looks like now he just does some judging stuff.Comment

Irony perhaps, synchronicity certainly.
Modesty, of course, forbids me from suggesting that the genious of the script and the brilliance of the Wilson's have caused the gods to re-align the universe to accommodate this show.
After-all there is a possibility that I'm wrong.

I bet you're thinking to exchange the plastic cups for metal trash cans.
Here's another idea.
I do shaker cups. In ikea I found some 30cm tall aluminium 'plant pots' A little modification and I could do some shaker cup tricks with them.
I then found some mini trash cans that I was aslo able to modify and do tricks with.
I've yet to try it with standard sized trash cans, but am convinced that when I find some in Croatia (rare) you could at least do 1 or 2 tricks with a couple of them.
Anyone heard of other people doing giant shaker cups ?Comment

I was wondering when some-one would do a cups and balls show with full sized rubbish bins.
It was the first thing I thought of after watching "Stomp" way back in the 90's.
So there you go, casual reader of this thread, whilst the show isn't original, the presentation is. Will anyone take up the challenge and make it their own? A mix of magic and street drumming.Last edited by Peter Voice; Mar-06-2006, 06:15 AM.Every-one should watch their drawers!
