Happy Birthday Jester, We love you.

Your like the skanky little brother with the runny nose and mouth I never had or wanted.

This next bit is a bit personal, so stop reading now if stuff like "little House on the Prairie" or "The Waltons" make you feel nausious.

My birthday went well. Though to be honest it was somewhat overshadowed by the death of my Grandmother two days earlier.

My Grandmother is now with my Grandfather, who had the same birthday as myself. So yesterday, I spent time with my family and my thoughts were with them.

So we are all comforting ourselves with the fact that My Grandfather had a fantastic birthday. However, we will miss her very much.

My Granmother wasn't a performer, but for over 50 years she was the wife to a man who was the local piano player. In their heyday, in the Eastend of London, before electric guitars and decent gramaphones, they would hire a pianist who would bring a whole upright piano.

It wasn't uncommon to see an upright piano being carted around on a hand cart, pulled by the local kids to gigs.

And when I was little, they still had these knees ups.

This piano would be dragged out of their flat on the third floor, and if the lifts weren't working, down three flights of stairs, onto a cart and off to a party.

And like many of us performers, my grandad did other stuff. He patented a wrench that is still in production today (but he sold the patent so he died poor), designed a new suspension system for his van which the manufacturers promptly adopted but more importantly was a loving father and grandfather.

My grandmother was a fantastic partner to him, they would sing jolly songs with hilarious lyrics when we were kids and being at their house whenever we went to stay was like waking up in Disneyland. It was the most exciting place to be as a child.

I shall miss them both. While I am sad at their passing, I am happy that they are together again, because I know my nan was looking forward to seeing him again. She said so a day or two before she died.
