well, it's just fracking cold here, and it starts to get dark around 4:30. The good news is, no matter how cold, dark and wet we have it, Jester has it MUCH worse on that shitty little island of his.

      That's not fair

... on all the nice English people.

I really ought to point out that I am not representative of the British Isles. And the weather isn't nearly as bad here as you might think

We get variety. We can have snow in the morning and be out sunbathing in the afternoon as it hits 70 in the shade. (This has happenned).

May I reccommend a Thermal Vest. Nobody can see it and you don't look stupid for it, and you are a lot warmer. A thermal vest is worth a thick overcoat. I am amazed at how many performers don't wear one.

        Don't belive the Hype

I've lived in England. it sucks there in the winter, in fact, it's worse than you think. Stop dissagreeing with people just for the argument.

          But etienne started it DAD!

Weather is warm here at the moment if a little bit wet. That's a fact. Sorry you don't like it here, glad you are happy there..

.. that's just one less telemarketing person and we aren't short of them at the moment.

I wasn't disagreeing for the sake of it. I thought I gave a nice civil response to Ettienes bait. As I write, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and a lot of the neighbours are out in the gardens.

          Lovely.

Of course it'll rain this afternoon and we'll have hail at some point tonight.

Today was a lovely crisp, sunny winters day. It was warm enough to walk around without a coat on, pleasant enough to sit outside and drink coffee.

            A perfect day for busking.

i fucking love busking on cold winters days. Not that crazy four feet of permafrost winter that some have but the nice winter.....ie european, english or Kiwi winter. I would say Aussie as well but I really struggle to associate the concept.

Your voice travels so much further, people wear different stuff so you can make different jokes. They generally are glad to see you out there giving them a laugh, and lets face it. performing sure warms you up and gives you a good excuse to drink coffee.

Im working in the throws of a glorious summer right now but i can remeember days like Jester just descibed and they make me smile.

Winter, snow and windchill, now thats a different story. Give me england in January over Canada or NE USA at the same time of year without question. The rest of time, summer, autumn and spring, I couldnt really tell you a climatical difference between the two. Maybe someone is pedantic enough to try

              LEE
Sunny South Africa. 27 degrees celsius today, light cloud cover but stupidly dangerous high winds that can make performing a new act in itself.
But today was a good day, I brought a combi van and next week I head north to confront the quiet German refugees of Namibia......., Swakopmund...today 29 degrees, slightly cloudy, 15 kmph SE winds

              a pleasant change

              snow is good for snowboarding

look out for the bush men

I have only met the san francisco bush man but he is nuts...

Joking aside I hear that Namibia is an amazing place.

                  the coldest day

About 5 years ago, one Saturday in December, I was performing in Brynawr, which has the highest market square in the UK.

It just so happened to be the coldest day in UK since records began. The locals stood there in there mittens, and watched and laughed.

I was very very cold and had to run into the Cafe after every 15 min show to get warm again....

                  brrrr.

Yet another glorious day. Today I was on the streets of Winchester promoting the winchester childrens festival, the sun was shining, the teenage Chavs were drinking, drunk, exposing the goose pimples on their over exposed cleavage and scarying the hell out of everybody else, including the man chavs....

... a drunk came up and told me he'd read about me in the paper last year, he said it was the first thing he'd read after being released from jail after accidentally killing his father in law with some dodgy methadone....

.... a student interrupted and asked if I knew any punch and judy men - the drunk gave us his theory on how Judy deserved to be beaten and how women need to be beaten....

So there I am trying to promote a kids festival, I've got a drunk heroin addict who's done time for manslaughter, two drunk 15 year olds asking if they can borrow my hat, another drunk 14 year old asking the student if he prefers her tits without goose pimples or her mates over exposed cleavage with (giggle giggle shock horror) a student trying to discourse his theory on a dark and dangerous play....

... and through all this a mother with three kids wades in and takes a leaflet......

I moved about 10 feet, continued my work and they were all still there, including the mum and her pushchair and three bored children when I finished over an hour later. I'd like to think they were discussing satre, but actually they were discussing the merits of cosmetic breast surgery....
