    Life's little surprises

Today, I turned up to my first major gig for some time. It was like a Chalk Circle re-union with Bev and Ulla. We were like a well oiled machine just touching bases for the start tomorrow.

The client is Melbourne Museum with whom we have previously done serious ground-breaking work, 3 months negotiations, hellish budget and insurance issues and staggering amount of admin bullshit. The gig is pretty serious.

We were booked to give 2 workshops, one morning and one afternoon, for up to 30 people/students per class for 8 of the next ten days. Tomorrow, Sunday and next weekend are also fully open to the public. 12 in total.

Due to a communication glitch in the client's beaurocracy they booked 8 groups per day for a 90 minute workshop. All between 11am and 3pm.

The marketing guy was thrilled and couldn't believe how easy the show was to sell.

    Negotiations continue.

Day 6 of the afore-mentioned gig.

We have now reached a point where we can talk to each other and the client's representatives without fear of ambulances and other civil officials being involved but we still have 3 days to go and contractual problems have not yet been resolved.

27 workshops and approximately 800 participants so far

I have posted a pic of part of the work in the p.art gallery at http://www.performers.net/forums/sho...8419#post28419

And the new winner's of the Rumple award for bravest marathon performance on a street goes to ....

I am impressed and astonished at your stamina, not to mention the fortitude you've shown in the lack of dismemberments and beheadings.

Well done, Chalkies. Oh, and lovely work to boot.

That's only half of it. On the other side of the plaza, we hand-painted 380 multi-coloured and decorated individual frames of which 363 were filled in as of today, Friday.

        Two more days to go.

I'll put a couple of individual examples of the kids' work up in the p.art gallery.
