Anyone ridden a "Torker" unicycle? I'm looking for a uni for a friend who is a beginner, and will likely switch over to an off-road, mountain uni type later. I like a schwinn, but this one looks like it has cotterless cranks and a quick release height post, and its going for 50 bucks new. Too good to be true?

Not used one myself, but just talked with Tom Miller (a very good custom uni builder) this past week about the Torkers, and he gives them two thumbs up for a beginner uni. He says their very good quality for the money.

I like my torker.
I've only had it a year or so and I don't do much heavy-duty stuff on it, but I've been very happy with it.
If your friend has long legs, they may need to invest in a new seatpost/seat, and that will add cost. The original seatpost is an "H" configuration, vs. a simple rectangle, at the connection point of the seat to the post, so I couldn't use the original seat on the new post.
They may have changed that part, for all i know.Comment
