any gigs in Ft. Stockton TX?

I hit a deer last night on my way from Austin to Boulder. Now I'm someplace in the middle of west texas (nowhere). Yay for me.

    Deer sero, Evan one

Been there, done that . . . with a motor home. Hope you weren't injured. At least it wasn't an elk or moose in Colorado. Then you would get to pay a $1500 fine !

I used FNO to search for a festival, and didn't find anything within 75 miles of you. Wish you luck.

I was driving down a mountain road in Boulder with some passengers who wondered why I was going pretty slow. Before I could even answer, a deer jumped out right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and nosed under him...nudging him back off the road. He just ran a bit and turned around and stared. Got a nice dent in my hood.

      How was Boulder?

      The Fringe Festival just started.

Yeah, it was crazy. I had the car on cruize controle at about 70mph (speed limit 65) on I-10, and then there was this deer just hanging out in the middle of my lane. So I pulled left, and he ran left and I nailed him. Then I was in the median focusing on staying out of the eastbound road, and then I was back skidding across the highway and down into the shoulder. If I was 50 yards farther down the road I would have gone off a bridge.
I called highway patrole and it took them like 45 min to get to me, so it's a good thing I didn't get hurt.
I guess the worst part is that now I'm stranded in Ft. Stockton TX. I have no way out unless someone comes to get me or I buy a new car. I'm pretty sure my VW is going to be totaled out. Ironicly, I have four brand new tires on the car ($500), and spent about $500 on the AC and new tie rods/other steering componets just two weeks ago..... is that ironic or just unfortunate.
        I will never get ahead.

Oh, I was in boulder last weekend and it was fine. I'm kind of sick of how cheep those f'n Yippies are though, and there are way too many performers in town.

the new tires probably made me slide more, as they are h rated and the old ones were z rated, but were getting shitty in the rain. but I didn't hear the tires squeal much, so I wasn't in much of a drift on the road.
Loose tie rods could have made me roll though, or worse. I was over 40 miles from the nearest hospital.

in my travels I have seen more than enough people in stretchers with sheets over thier faces on the side of the highway. it sucks, drive safe.
