Blue Man Group in this week's NYTimes

Did anyone else read the review of Blue Man Group's new "Tubes" show in the July 28 issue of The New York Times?

You can find the review online at www.nytimes.com

It sounds like more or less the same show they perform in Chicago. Has anyone seen them in Vegas?

Saw them in Vegas 2-3 years ago. Outstanding show. Reccommend the ear plugs, it is a bit loud.

There is a lot to the show. Not just music, not just light, not just humour or social commentary, but a great package . Very entertaining, even included audience participation wich I wasn't expecting. And definatly high energy!

Yeah, that review pretty much summed up my experience:

"[blue man] relied on spectacle and demanded only optional use of the brain. "Tubes" - plotless, wordless and devoid of human emotions - was radical in a way, testing the limits of commercial entertainment."

I found myself simultaneously loving and loathing the show for the exact same reasons.

        loving & loathing

This is exactly why I like Blue Man Group, and am always inspired by them.

People tend to either love them or hate them. They force an audience - or even one jaded critic - to notice them and react. They engage, they incite, they provoke. And they entertain.

I'm guessing that every performer who has seen one of their shows has learned something valuable. Ignore them at your own peril.
