    Pavement Art Gallery

There are several pavement artists registered here. Ulla Taylor, Chalkmaster Dave, Bev Isaac, Debbie Robinson and, in another life, Gary Animal, spring to mind easily.

Many of us create new works every time we go out, rarely repeating ourselves and the work disappears off the street to eventually be hidden in our photo albums. I have put up a photo in another thread to illustrate a point but feel it is inappropriate to do it often as the size of the file really slows things down.

So I thought it would be good to start a thread in which to share some of these works. I'm hoping others will put up their new or important stuff. There are other sensational p.artists out there that we may attract to the p.net, Kurt Wenner, Gary Palmer, Jamison and others. Delivery will be a little slow but, hopefully, OK if people are careful of file size. Pls keep pics at 75 ppi maximum.

Think of it as a "Hype yourself Blatantly" thread for the p.artists.

I'd like to start this Gallery off with a picture finished 2 days ago by Diana Isaac at Melbourne's Southbank.

This is a pic I did today (completed 4 hrs ago).
Obviously, it's a corporate gig but I like it anyway.

It's the third work I've attempted as my spine heals. I'm sore, tired and pleased.
They are also paying me enough.
Hope you like it. I borrowed the hand-cuffs from Nick Nickolas. They were, of course, under the bed.

Next week, I have a gig, for the same client, with Rumple performing. Would you believe the client does not want Rumple to be in character or me to draw him in character.

    Go figure.

      very strange

Why would the client want rumple to perform, but not in character? In all the times that I have been around rumple, only once did I see him briefly slip out of character. It's an impossibility I say.

They are adamant and (they think) cannot be swayed. I have no idea what deal they have made with Rumple but know he is somewhat non-plussed. We are going to wing it.

I still have tomorrow to try and convince the client that they should trust us to do what we do well, not what the demi-god middle-managment dudes think is cool. They really are paying me enough.

They have hired us to do an image of a unicyclist and they have hired Rumple as the unicyclist but insist that he look "street cool". Rumple doesn't even own a pair of sneakers, let alone "cutting-edge threads".

This will be an interesting gig and I'll keep you posted

Rush Rumple to a thrift shop and help him dress "Cool'
May be a turning point in his life!

About 1,000 fucking dollars a time, Etienne.

I did say it was a corporate gig.

I did another one today and it's a bit special because I worked with some-one I have been encouraging to try the streets for years. Peers Taylor is a self taught saxophonist and he finally hit the streets 6-8 months ago (much due to the influence of Nick Nickolas). It was his first paid 'corporate' gig and he was great.

We used a site actively discouraged (illegal?) by the authorities and had a ball. The logo comes up again but, hey, they paid Peers too. The caption is 'Be Entertained Here'.

It was great fun but I'm acutely aware of why I should not do this much more.

Well, I've got the picture of Rumple 'out of character' but, just to build the tension, I thought I'd show you the pic I did this morning before catching up with what Bev and Rumple were doing.
I saw Rumple's books today and bought three sets. They are amazing and I've just started to look at them.

Buy them, by whatever means you can work out with him, they are genuine treasures. Make sure he signs them for you. Terry Gilliam would be in the queue if he saw them.

Just because the word 'escape' seems so important to so many of us.

Peter, whose reflection is in the ball?

Actually, Lynne, the question is "Who is looking at the ball?"

Maybe you had to be there.
