Until Natural Sciences were taken seriously it was widely beleived, even by the church that mermaids were real.

Many naturalists searched high and low for mermaids for many years. However, just cos we aint found none, it doesn' mean they don't exist.

Until a couple of years ago we couldn't find a Giant Squid. We knew they existed cos some dead ones washed up on beaches and cos sailors saw them. We never caught any on film or proved it though.

Did you know that humans are the only primate with subcutaneous fat found in water dwelling mammals.

Did you know that proconsul remains have been found in colonies away from trees but close to water. Proconsuls being the common ancester of chimpanzes and other apes.

Could it be that Mermaids are in fact...... THE MISSING LINK!

Is that how we lost our body hair?

Or could it be that because hardly any bugger could swim in the western world, that anybody who could was mistaken for a mermaid a couple of hundred years ago.....
