    hmmmm bickering......

i am assuming that all the bickering that is going on is being enjoyed by everyone who is taking part, else that kinda makes me a bit sad that it all has to be on a public forum...however, yes i'm reading some of it but it doesnt make me feel very positive when i log off!

Maybe i should stop, but for some reason arguments and bitching seem to be rather compelling, a bit like a road traffic accident. Also i suppose its the end of the season in the west so people feeling a bit tetchy? or is SAD, seasonal adjustment whatsit, responsible? perhaps its just simply a laugh...maybe i got too many tragic things going on at the moment to find it funny.....god will someone get some funny shit back on these boards please...Bfly how about some more jokes? Aw cmon?

as i'm writing someone has just called me regarding the possible winner of the elections....i have fear in my heart....now i really need a joke...

Not necessarily funny, at least not to me, but if I had an in-kitchen video camera last night it would be a contender for Funniest Home Videos...

I was on the computer (no surprise) and Jellybean, my daughter's cockatiel who's cage is on top of a tall set of shelves in the kitchen, was screaming his little head off. Andrew, my eight year old, called, asking me to go cover the bird. I was in the middle of something, so I told him I to be patient and that I would get to it in a moment.

A very short while later I hear a crash and squeals from both bird and son as they screamed for my immediate help. Andrew had tried to cover the bird himself by standing on a foot stool to reach the cage and had inadvertently tipped the cage off of the shelf. He was holding up one end as the other slowly slid down the shelf. Panicked, he cried in anticipation of the impending doom...

I reacted, as only a parent can do, by running to his aid. Too bad I didn't notice that the bird's water had spilled on the floor because I hit the wet spot and went airborne before slamming my backside onto the concrete floor knocking the feet out of Andrew and bringing the cage down to a climactic explosion of feathers.

Covered in water, seed and bird shit, Andrew and I lay on the kitchen floor for a moment to assess the damage. I was just sure that I had cracked my tailbone or busted a wrist. Andrew was shrouded in the cage cover, bird flug and tears. He was fine, though very scared and worried for the #^*$& bird - who, by the way, was not only uninjured but singing cheerfully for being out of his cage. My derrière was unscathed, though my adrenaline levels flew through the roof and my pride went to that only too familiar place that it goes when I do such things.

After cleaning up the mess, rebuilding the cage and getting bird and boy back into some semblance of calm, I retired to the bedroom for an anxiety induced nap. The morning after finds me still pulling seeds and feathers from my clothes and bedding.

Funny? Don't know. Maybe you had to be there. Come to think of it, I was there and there didn't seem to be much laughter... Oh well.

      Sorry for pain being caused

Em: The "bickering" I'm "involved" in is purely jest.

Steve: Glad to hear there were no injuries, especially the the birdy and the baby.

          It's Okay em.

Le Pire is a little tired after working very hard for the Democrats, and blew up when I was jibing at Woofnah.

I am the guilty party. But I didn't expect it to get quite so hostile. As expected, Woofnah won by replying with humour while not lowering herself to my level.

As for B'fly man and DeadWood, well that is in it's own thread so you can easily stay away.

I think the more arguementative of us do enjoy our little spats. I do. However, sometimes there is some real cruelty on this site and I wince.
