    ringling bros-- doomed

    In the last few months:

    -A trapeze artist fell and was injured
    -A tightwire artist plunged to the floor and was badly injured
    -An Aerialist fell to her death
    -Spanky the Kiddy Porn Clown
    -A 13 year old girl petitions and gets the circus barred from Denver
    -PETA Elephant Abuse suit gets the greenlight to go to court.
    -Roy Horn gets mauled by a Tiger (same producers as RBBB circus)


    They say the show must go on, but I don't want to watch.

      Why did the 13 year old girl petition? What did her petition say?

      " I am the precocious daughter of middle class liberal elite parents and I want to see the circus stopped because I want people to think that I am highly cultured and above all of this spectacular light entertainment. It is bad enough that I have to wear braces on my teeth and cope with acne without these stupid clowns parodying myself and my peers.

      Please ban the circus and when I am 21 I promise to take on Disney Studios."

          She was upset about "cruelty to animals" and apparently 40,000 other people were as well.

          Funny you should mention Disney. Have you ever seen one of the AWFUL "Disney on ice" shows? They're produced by Feld Entertainment, the same people who bring you Ringling Bros. Circus.

          Funny story- When I was in RBBB Clown College back in '96, the directors took us on a special field trip to go see 'Pocahontas- On Ice!" The direction didn't think all of us had nice enough clothes to wear to the show, so we were all required to wear our standard issue khaki cover-alls. It should be mentioned that earlier that week 26 of the 34 of us shaved our heads (like you do when you're in clown college).

          We were taken to the arena in a beat up old school bus and a group of old ladies walked up to us and asked "Are you all from the prison?"

          In a manner of speaking, lady...

                  Well the circus is not banned in Denver. She did collect enough signatures for the issue to be put on November's ballot.
