    College

Well, it's official, I of all people got into college. The college of my choice none the less. So now the important question; do you qualify for more scholarships if you can juggle?

What college did you get into, what are you studying?

Does this mean you will be able to contribute to my heavy thread for argueing the toss?

Will your education get you off the street, or will it enhance your performance?

I need to know these things before I can offer my congratulations.

      Higher Education

I am proud of you ... I have always known you were destined for greatness when we first met and you were repulsed by the sight of me.

I'm unsure if all colleges gives discounts for juggling ability (except maybe FSU in Tallahassee) but rather than post that question to a bunch of indigents that frequent this site why not go ask Dorothy Finnigan ... she took almost a year off and traveled the world as a solo street act before she entered Yale last fall ... an amazing young woman ... if I was your age I'd ... uh, what was I talking about? .... Nurse!!!!

Spike, the most important thing to remember in college is; never let school get in the way of your education! Yes, go to class every now and then so you can pass the tests, but learn about the people you are with. To know people is to entertain thgem and be entertained by them.

In answer to your question jester I will be going to Columbia College of Chicago, they have the largest theater program in the U.S. I am planing on a major in acting and a minor in playwrighting. Their web site is www.colum.edu.

To answer your other question it most likely will keep me off the street, we're talking about Chicago here man, when it's not freezing it's raining. But the cold wont stop me from working, in fact I already have some stuff set up with the Midnight Circus. Their web site is www.midnightcircus.net/

My main reason for going to Chicago is to try and get in to Second City. I am hoping by the time I am done with my four years I'll have a bit of an in. All the improv teachers for Columbia are also members of Second City, so I hope that kind of gets my foot in the door.

Anyone living in the windy city I should know about? Places to go? Things to do?

Sounds like paying to work in a pit crew because you want to be a race car driver someday. Good luck.

              Check out Redmoon theatre

They put on some good stuff and are highly connected, ie they get permission to have parades inside the international airport, the art gallery and do private gigs that are huge.
(I met them at a party alongside James Brown and Aretha Franklin for a mere 300 people )
And while were on the subject of name dropping, I've worked with tom cruise and my brother won 2 oscars this year out of 5 for LOTR.
              Have fun, Chicago's interesting.
Redmoon saved money by having their rehearsal space in the very worst part of town, we'd totter round inside a fenced yard with woks stuck on top of our heads filled with water that we used to put out a dead body set aflame. While outside cars sparked past on just their rims, crack was on every corner and every 10 minutes empty bottles would sail across the fence to shatter among us.

                Congratulations

I congratulate you and wish you luck.

I have no idea what planet Taxi Tricks is on, but hell. I would pay to be in the Pit Crew.

I think That an education is a better investment than a House. You can pass it on to your kids too.
