The story goes that the guy auditioned for the part having not read the script. He got the part and didn't realize there was dancing involved. He genuinely couldn't dance. They rewrote the part for him and so the montage of him learning to dance was genuinely him learning to dance. ...They say to this day it's the only routine he can dance.
I don't think he was ever in another movie... that i know of.
