I've spent the last week eating breakfast with this woman in St. John's. Very touching exhibit. It's making its cross-Canada tour right now. The city is full of decorated war brides, coming to see themselves portrayed.
Thanks for that KT vid... at first I was like "oh, crap someone is just posting a vid of one of their favorite musicians," but this is a great vid for people to see here.
She's doing live sampling/looping and a fantastic job of it as well... a great use of technology and a new twist on the one (wo)man band (as you mentioned).
Since attending a lecture by the amazing photographer Chris Buck, I decided to shoot things in a way I had never done before. I knew I was flying out the next day to San Francisco and had no model to shoot after the lecture. So... I decided to capture myself flying. That session began with about 40 attempts.
My goal for this set was to record every time I traveled by flight at both places of take off; home and the hotel.
I travel every once and a while through work to some beautiful locations and have made it my goal to have an unusual coffee table book for friends and family when I'm all old and grey. Bed Jumps around the world.
I only wish I had this idea when I was in Italy, England, France and Costa Rica. ALl locations I would love to return to at some point and not just for the bed jumps.
Some Facts:
I wasn't able to capture a jump in Africa due to an incredible hard bed. I did attempt some jumps but decided the jumps in Cape town would be sufficient and that Johannesburg were not needed.
And yes I have broken a bed while jumping. Listen to your parents; they sometimes know what they are talking about.
got this interpretation from a german speaking friend:
Campaigners from the Swiss faction of the Animal Liberation Front had earlier told Circus Royal director Oliver Skreinig they planned to steal the Siberian tiger and hand him to a zoo. But when they broke into the circus enclosure and saw the animal they changed their minds - and stole a rabbit instead.
The liberationists then posted pictures of themselves online wearing black army uniforms and balaclavas and holding the rabbit.
