I would have to agree with garfield on this one. The routine was a big yawn. The only impressive thing apart from the fact he didn't drop was that he managed to look like he had terets syndrome whilst being in time to the music.
I disagree. I mean, I don't care if the juggling was technically difficult or not. I don't care if the music I'm listening to is technically difficult or not. I don't care if the painting on my wall is tech... you get the idea. I was entertained. So were all the people in that audience it seems, by the sound of the applause.
Does art have to be "the hardest thing anyone's ever seen" to be respected or enjoyed? If so, most of us are out of the race.
I didn't finish garfield guy's writing, because I got bored with it and don't have enough time. So he didn't like it. Ok. I did. I don't like being treated like I'm a simpleton because I enjoyed something and didn't recognize every technical foible. (sp??)
My sister is a concert pianist, but she doesn't point out to me that my rock albums are stupid because they're just a bunch of C,D, and G chords, repeated in different patterns. If she did I would call her a music snob. ...I didn't realize juggling snobs existed.
I enjoy innovation/creativity far more than just skill.
I also don't think most jugglers juggle for other jugglers. If so, their audience is a very niche market. Garfield was right in saying that most people can't tell the difference. Bliss entertained a crowd and he did it well.
I undestand the feeling of being frustrated when somenoe gets a lot of attention for something that many people could do... but eventually you've just gotta say, "well, good for him" and go do your own thing.
Being the link thread, I should probably finish this off with a link of some sort... oh crap. I was unprepared.... ummmm....

so garfield said the most impressive thing about the bliss video was that he didn't drop. while garfields video was impressive it cut between shots like every 10 seconds.... so as impressive as garfield was with his routine how many times do you think he had to do everything untill he got the whole thing put together without dropping. i did enjoy the video but as cocky as garfield acts he needs to be able to do that routine without dropping one shot straight on to back up everything he's saying. while I agree that the audience liked it and people clapped they do need the background like garfield was saying to understand whats going on - i've recieved over 20 emails from different people telling me to check out this video because its really impressive.. its not. its entertaining yes - but not impressive. i think a routine somewhere in the middle of what bliss and garfield did would be more of what im looking for.
