    Al Jazeera

    Hello everyone,

I'm just passing on an email I got from Dirty Fred. Check it out. Some of you will certainly agree with the sentiment of the message some may not. But hey it's a democracy isn't it? I happen to agree very strongly.

    Cheers,

    Rex

    Hi,

This is a mass emailing originating from Dirty Fred, street performer
extrodinaire. I hope you will email your entire address book with this
important message. But if that's too much of a pain in the ass, could you
just email a few friends with this message? The message is: Al Jazeera
finally has the english version of their website up. To get an Arab
perspective on events in the middle east and the rest of the world as
    well, go to

Al Jazeera is one of the few news resources in the world coming from an
Arab perspective which is relatively free of government censorship and has
the infrastructure to cover events like the resistance in Iraq. They are
not unbiased, of course, no one is, but at least it is a different bias
than the usual western liberal/corporate bias the news always comes at us
from, from organisations like ABC, CNN, NYT, BBC, NPR, AP, UPI, Reuters,
CBS, AFP, NBC, Fox news, News Hour with Jim Lehrer, Time, Newsweek, The
Economist, Wall Street Journal etc etc. So go to
http://www.english.aljazeera.net/HomePage and find out for yourself whether
it holds itself to relatively decent journalistic standards, say like the
BBC, or it is more propagandistic like Fox news (right) or Radio Free Press
(left). Whatever the case, you'll get Middle East stories the rest of the
press doesn't cover by visiting Al Jazeera and you'll be reading the
website of the CNN of the Arab world. (Al Jazeera has a largest effect on
Arab public opinion of any news organisation.) By fowarding this email to
at least some of your friends, you'll be helping to break the stranglehold
the 5 western media giants have on the news. Thanks.

PS Send this email to your right wing friends as well. It won't kill them
