This is a beauty, I havent seen the forum get so wound up since the professional button pusher was at work.
As for Trevs credentials, if you dont know them you should get out more often. I was around his house a couple of weeks ago and what he is creating is very cool and definately on a non-profit hippyish basis.
I dont know if I agree with the concept but it would be cool to see what this man can create, change your tunes boys and girls and start to brainstorm.
Im not really a poet or lyricist but I can recommend some themes that should run through the song

"nobody pays me to be here"
"Im the only person in the world"
"Its real fire"
"This is how I make my living"

I dont know, their are so many street performer cliches, all we need is someone talented to make them rhyme, a dude like Trevor to put it to an original score and well all have a bit of music that will make us piss our pants.

Looking at your picture I can see that your old enough and wise enough, so you should endeavour to practace what you preace? As for the money issue this I dont understand? as I feel sure that like me you have done plenty of things that dont actually incorporate it or mention it?

Cant give you any points mate but I feel sure that if you are a good as you advertise yourself then you should be able to get some of the top scores for your writings.

Like you I am an artist Peter, street performer, photographer, musician, story teller and ex profession sculptor ( York Minster Cathedaral UK ) for eight years, many of my stone and wood carvings still adorn this gothic structure and will remain there for centuries to come. Art is an artform whether it's music, painting, sculpting and you of all people should know that! Shame on you to critisise or question such a wonderfull offer to a marvelous community that thrives on each other.

You get credit where it's due always, we all do!

The canvas is stretched and waiting for the the first brush strokes?

rhyme, any sentance to be made to work to the music, it's not how it's written it's the way its sung and put together.

The artists should try to find a way to put their own emotions to what they read and write in the thread, the message has to be clear enough so that the layman ( The public ) get the story. Every-one of us have our own emotions regarding our craft, we all see more than our very own selves on the street.

Out there are homeless people, people eating out of bins, performers often eating scraps of food from bins, performers doing well, some not. Street guys live the street they see it all ( Ralph McTell )
"Streets Of London for instance" So with all of this in mind I want to write a song that bouncy, streetwise and innovative. Want to write something that could be used in a movie perhaps.

To Daisy and Derek: "...their are so many street performer cliches..." This is something i would like to get away from. Getting put in a box with every other street performer is not a good idea. How about you make a song about how all black people work in the fields. It'll be springy and upbeat, i'll bet theyd like it.

Dont worry i have tons of other lyrics, no probelem there! This tread is for those who wish to put something forward. In your case it seems to me that you seem a little to worried and threatned by such a wild idea.

If we spent all of our time critisising the reasons why you should do or not do something we wouldn't get anywhere would we.

You do what you liie doing, I do too! If we take all the music in the world and tried to analyse why these guys made it all in the first place it would take you a life time wouldn't it.

In this case it more of a dileberate atempt to stir people thoughs so that I get an overall picture of the "Street Feeling" not neccessarily a corny song about "Street performers as you seem to think?"

Yes no doubt you would be wonedring about the music part of this idea? This is an obvious point of veiw. Usually I work the other way round .... Music first then the words. In this caes I want genaral feelings then the music. If you dont undrestand this then I think you should try to undersatnd that this is not some half hearted attemp this is one that allows every-ones indulgance negative or otherwise.

Think about this with a more open head, just like you do when you pitch up on the street, sometimes you dont know whats going to happen on these occasions until you feel your audience and envoiroment.

You came into this with you own thoughts and I truly appreciate them now maybe it's time to question why you are so critisistic of other peoples intentions. Now in saying this I feel sure that you have taken performers advice and taken it into your heart. If you had not then you would not be doing what you do????????

Checl our Ralph McTells, Streets Of London song it's about the street but there is no mention of street performers it reached No1 in the 70s mate.

Just one more thing the colour of ones skin makes no difference to this, if you want to propose this into the subject them dont place creed into it, every-one has a right to it!

My musicains are multi cultured I really need you to tell me who and what the method should be, more you shuld be giving some really positive input, rather than being so un-positive.

Shows on the street need to be positive so dont get so depressed mate.

If I wanted to write this song on my own as usual then I would be doing it wouldn't I, As a studio with everything i need in it and plenty of musicians who give their time to me freely would you think that something like this would fall in to place in it's own time?

I suppose it's unfair to ask you to respect our opinions on this after my last post, but there are legitimate reasons that this should not happen, completely apart from our sarcasm and cynicism. If the goal is to have some royalty-free music so that you can use it in your show guilt-free, there are lots of places online that will sell libraries for a very reasonable price. A quick search yields http://www.sounddogs.com, but I have also used http://www.networkmusic.com.

The license agreements change, but they tend to be very cheap if you use the music in conjunction with something choreographed. That is, if I have an act that is linked to the music, the rights are quite reasonable. But, if I want to play the music as people are walking into the theater, that is considered "broadcasting," and the price jumps up substantially. You can also distribute the music on promotional material as long as it is tied to some choreographed media.

If you want to use a particular piece of music, you can always just ask the composer/publisher. They may simply grant permission without any hassle (one shots aren't really worth the effort, so you might get authorization without the paperwork.)
