"It's A Living" is a CBC national weekly half-hour show, that sees the host travelling to different parts of the country and trying his hand at "unusual" employment. Filmed at the 2003 Edmonton International Street Performer's Festival, the episode that aired last night featured Jim, Lee Zimmerman, Christof! and Patti Styles, Phil LeConte and Colin Franks of The Silly People, and a quick cameo of sleepy Mike Wood. Not exactly and in-depth doco, it did manage to be entertaining (if a little too focussed on hats).

My VCR is bust, but I think Phil managed to get a copy taped somewheres.

I'm waiting for a copy of the tape. I look forward to seeing it.

When we were filming one of the little bumper/intro shots of the host, I managed to whack him in the head not once, but TWICE with one of my hard plastic Dube American Clubs. We were doing the thing where he puts his arms behind his back and I put my arms around his body and juggle (while standing behind him) to make it appear that he's juggling. Well, he is almost a foot taller than me and I just couldn't juggle at a comfortable angle, so I accidently hit him right in the face with a club. After apologizing profusely, I tried again and within three throws, I hit him again. He brushed it off, but I know how much those things hurt.

We shot it at a different angle with me crouched down in front of him and it created a similar effect with no injuries.

Right before I hit him, I was explaining to him that because I live in the States, I had never seen the show and (despite the fact that he's famous) I really didn't know who he was. I felt like an idiot.

The host's name is Peter Jordan. "famous" would be a bit of a stretch, well maybe in Winnipeg, nahhh....
the show is produced out of my dear home town, the ether city. if you tire of waiting for a tape dub to arrive (apparently they still say "i'll send you a copy of the show" and apparently they still never do)send me an email and i'll dig up the producer's contacts for y'all - no really...of course i will...
