    some help

hi everybody, apologies for this letter of appeal and i realise many of you may find this geographically irrelevant but i am pulling out all the stops!

I have been working for around a year with a young lad at The Amber Foundation; a residential centre for vulnerable young people in the UK. I discovered him when I did a weeks workshop teaching through "Circomedia" (a circus and theatre school). It was apparent then that he was physically very talented, very bouncy and had great potential as a performer.

He decided recently that he would like to audition for Circomedia, which he did last week and to his utter delight was offered a place. This is of great significance as he had been homeless etc for most of his adult life (he is 26) and had no prospects for the future. However in his year at Amber he overcame many challenges and his self-esteem and desire to succeed has grown considerably.

In order to do the course he needs to raise £1800, and I am helping him in any way that I can.

If anyone could contribute in any way towards this fee, or perhaps has information on charities or funding bodies we could apply to please could you email me as soon as is humanely possible??? The course starts in 3 weeks so we are on a record breaking short time to make this happen....

You can call me at home (+44) 117 9515265 or on me mobile 07789 221169 or better still email me...

    Many thanks
    Em

    Hi, Em.

I would advise you set up a paypal account... https://www.paypal.com to make it easier for all of us to put something in the hat for the bouncy lad. ( Its free and easy to do.) I'll send some money, I like what you're up to. In fact, if four or more other members agree here to send the same amount, I'll pitch in $100 US. We all have a low enough overhead, and it is harvest time.

I mighta caused a problem, Em. I thought I'd kick in $100 in my Canuck currency. But PayPal responded with a screen that your account does not carry $C currency, and so the payment might be refused. Sorry, I shoulda thought of that. If it will cause you grief to convert, just refuse the payment. I'll make it again in equivalent $US.

Just posting this here in case other Canuckians were thinkin' 'o doin' the same.

          Best wishes to you all!
          Lynne

                      Sure. First, click on this.

From paying friends to saving money or getting cash back when you shop, explore what the new PayPal app has to offer.

Then click on "send money", or, if you want to set up an account, click on "set up an account".

Its fairly intuitive, free, and safe. To set up an account, you'll need to cough up a bank account number, so they can send you your dosh when that ugly lamp sells for nine hundred on ebay.

Yup, it is pretty straightforward to get started, but there are a few differences for US and CDN account holders. Only US residents have the option of registering for a PayPal acct by providing your bank-based chequing account details. And that takes a couple of days for confirmations to be gathered before you can use your account to make payments. Once set up, if you will be earning income into your PayPal acct, you can apply for a PayPal debit card, and be able to withdraw funds at any ATM on the MasterCard or Cirrus network.

For CDN residents, you must secure your account by providing credit card details. I believe all transactions are registered as debits or credits to this card. Your C.C. will, of course, charge exchange fees if you are transacting in other than your native currency.

Recipients of PayPal payments can collect pretty easily, but they pay a percentage on any foreign exchanges (you don't think they do all this for free, nu?) that's taken off the top.

                          Hey Em,

Have you heard from anyonne? Surely Lucky Rich will be generous. If I remember correct, or cut and paste correctly, he once claimed
"I have a life, that I have been given and I do not take it for granted.
If any one comes to me and ask for help,I give it to them.
                          No ?'s asked,because I know I am being looked after,no matter what!Were ever I am.
My wealth my friend is on the skin of my body ,in what I do in my life on a daily basis and most of all with in me!

                          LDR "

Surely, a generous soul like that will kick in.

                            HI babe!

i think, tentatively, that i may well have done it and raised enough, i am off to a gig now but will write an update on friday when i have received all my post....

it could not have been done without the help and generosity of people like yourself, and the existence of this forum!!! (thankyou Jim)

but if i am short by friday, i'll put a last desperate plea up and see where we get to

                            big love

I have been in Nippon for the past two weeks and had not seen this thread until today ...

I will gladly sell Gazzo's sound eguipment that he left here in LA almost 3 years ago and donate the proceeds to such a worthy cause.

It would have to be quick though as I hear he's coming to town to do the Castle in a week or so ...

but he's probably forgotten that he left it here anyway and won't even ask about it ...

so Em is this "Amber" thing for real or is Peewee still on crack?
