Remember the old Circus saying! "The more the make-up the less the clown."

I'm Back, No tattoos and a photo to prove it:

Here is one of the greatest things to happen to me this summer. It happened at a fire show I was performing in, along with my partner Joel, Peter Panic and some other performers back stage at a Phish concert. We were performing in the Betty Ford Clinic. Which is what they called the free beer tent. Any way the plan was to have me finish the show with flaming lawn chair juggling. I made my entrance, announced the trick and then asked the crowd whether they wanted to see the lawn chairs juggled open or closed. Everyone yelled,"OPEN", then Joel shouted "NAKED". Soon everyone was chanting NA-KED, NA-KED, NA-KED. I resisted the idea at first, acting like I was to shy to disrobe in front of abunch of young hippies, but then caved in to the demands of my audience. It was hilarious, I got a standing ovation and was surrounded after the show by my newest fans, a bunch of twenty something hippie girls who'd apparently been waiting there whole lives to see a man, 15 years (and more) their senior strip and juggle flaming lawn chairs.

Ears and belly button pierced.

No tattoos.

One cesarian scar, very neat and discreetly placed.

Dan,

Did Mike Gordon take that photo? I hear he's been into "artistic" photography lately.

No tatts or intentional piercings. But I have had a wide vatiety of other less calculated body modifications.

Broken; (from the top down) nose, cheekbone, jaw, collarbone, 3 ribs, right hand twice, right fibula, tibula, patella and 2 bones in my right foot. 3 knee reconstructions have also left their marks.

Last Oct. x-rays revealed that my bad chest pain had nothing to do with the flu or my smoking but was caused by 3 broken thoracic vertibrae.

I too set off the alarms at airports but the scars usually convince the security guys. I reckon that I'm carrying around more metal and ceramic than LDR and Frack combined.
As far as piercing goes, I've generally found that I prefer to avoid people who have wanted to put holes in me. On the 2 occasions that I had impromtu piercings(one, an incompetant mugger with a swiss army knife and the other by a large pissed-off stingray) I found that my skin leaked and I, personally, believe this is a very bad sign.
Every-one should watch their drawers!

Another one of the greatest things to happen to me this summer happened at the same event. I got to watch Peter Panic (another non-tattooed performer) fall in the mud.

Here's how it happened. Joel and I were scoping out the concert grounds late one evening looking for a place to set up a fire show. Joel found a flat spot at the bottom of a hill which made a natural amphitheater I thought the spot was to muddy but Joel insisted on it. In the end I was glad he did. We started juggling fire and soon had a large crowd of very enthusiastic (albeit high or drunk or tripping or all of the above) people.

Soon enough Peter Panic showed up with a giraffe unicycle and a bunch of juggling torches. He joined in the show and the crowd loved it, more jugglers, more fire, better show. With me so far? Any way the fire juggling had reached a crescendo and we decided we should end the show. Panic volunteered to perform the finale'; Free mounting his giraffe then juggling three torches. I said no way man it's to muddy, but he insisted.

He got his unicycle ready in the middle of the performance circle. A hush fell over the crowd. Panic started his mount and then WHAM, SPLAT, CRASH, BOOM. His foot slipped off the first pedal and he went down like a sack of doorknobs into the muck, the unicycle landing directly on top of his splayed, mud begowned body. It was beautiful! Another hush fell over the crowd and you could hear people whispering things like, "is he all right?" or "I hope he's not hurt". Then I turned to our audience and shouted, "do you want to see him try it again?". The people went wild. Panic didn't disappoint. He got on that unicycle all covered in mud and managed to eek out an eight second ride in what had to be about 6 inches of mud.

Then there was this dude there with a digital video camera who got a shot of the fall. I watched it over and over again on his little display screen and it got funnier every time.

No tatoos
6 piercings-- belly, nose, 2 in each ear (although I rarely wear earrings)
broken:
nose (was playing Romeo and Tybalt fucked up the combat choreography and got me good. Audience reaction: that is the fakest looking blood I've ever seen!)
Left arm, twice: 1st, when I was playing "Hulk" at age 6 and then again in a wrestling tournement at age 13 (I nearly had that bastard, too).
3 toes (pinky to middle on left foot) fell off the tightwire during a show with Cirque Frattelini. Got back on, finished the number and was back to work 2 days later. Hurt like hell for months.

collar bone, fell out of a bunk bed when I was 3.

Fractured skull, was playing Luke Skywalker when I was 8 and took a nasty fall off the top of a jungle gym.

big scar on my finger from when I got it caught in my unicycle chain during a show-- blood all over the stage.

Scar on the forehead from a free-standing ladder (thank you Rob Torres, you bastard!!! )

Dan--- Great stories!

I haven't any tatoos, but my ears are pierced.
Broken: My pinkie toe was broken once, too!!During a show, when I was doing a modern ballet performance at a benefit. I was doing shanays (traveling spins), and I was supposed to leap. I was so dizzy from the shanays, I did the leap/botmonte right into the wall. I don't think anybody noticed my mistake, and I kept dancing like nothing. But my toe was broken and hurting like crazy for the rest of the show. Back stage, I iced my foot, crying like a baby. It was funny... sort of....

P.S., As for that pic of the naked guy....Oh my poor virgin eyes!! <img src="graemlins/haha.gif" border="0" alt="[ha ha]" /> You guys are all nuts, you know that? (no pun intended)

Dear girls
Nick asked who had didn't have tattoos. Suddenly people want to talk about how many bones they have broken and how many scars they've got. Bless.
I have crashed several cars in my time but I have never reacted by thinking "well at least I don't have any tattoos".
Still I do have an excellent scar across my stomach where a surgeon had to cut me open to stop me bleeding to death after somebody stabbed me in the liver. I did think about tattooing a steam train going along it....
Love to all

One tat on upper left arm. A lucky green dragon. The usual broken bones and a half amputated right foot. I do enjoy seeing a good looking tattoo. Girls, if you would like, I'll show you mine if you show me yours!
