    Road trip blues

I have to drive from LA to Columbia Missouri by Friday night so that I can be ready for a gig on Saturday. I am super pissed at the autobody shop for taking this long to fix my car (I'll get it back around lunchtime), cuz now I have limited time to make the trip in. A three day solo road trip is not somthing that should be rushed, for saftey's sake. Also, there are a lot of really freaking cool things to look at between here and Mid MO, and I'll have to drive strait past them all.
Anyway, I'm real stressed about it, so keep your fingers crosed for me.

According to MapQuest it is only 28hrs 10mins you have 48 hrs to make it. Should be no problem, especially if you drive like a bat outa hell. <img src="graemlins/jester.gif" border="0" alt="[jester]" />

Just be sure you hit UT and western CO during the daylight hours for the scenery. That's a great drive. Then you get past Denver and it's pretty desilate for a long while. You probably better make time to stop in Kansas to see the worlds largest ball of twine.

Dear God! If he goes by MapQuest's directions, he'll end up in Nova Scotia by way of Panama.

I didn't go through Colorado, It's winter. That would be stupid. I went a southern rought. Plus, my old girlfriend in Denver is dating some other guy now, so I don't want to go there yet.
I dint' get my car back until wednesday night, and when I got it half of the electical systems in the car didn't work, and I didn't have time to fix them. So I couldn't see the map at night, and that kinda messed me up.
2,200 miles in less than 48 hours. I love road trips, but having a deadline takes all the fun out of it. The weather in the winter can really slow you down, so I like to plan in lots of extra time.

BTW- I went the Utah/Nevada (US 50) rought on the way to clai, It was great.

Winter? In Denver, it has been in the 40's and 50's all week. And sunny to boot.

So how did the show go? Were you awake?

I know it was warm in Denver, but you can't really trust the weather forcasts that much, and you have to drive through the mountians to get there, which are much higher elevation. And pulling over for naps would be much colder in the mountians. It rained on me in Oklahoma, that could have easily been freezing rain farther north.

I am happy to report that the show went great. Nice little corporate gig that will hopefully lead to nice big corporate gigs next year. The magician that hired me to be his "special guest" was very impressed. I hit every joke right on the head, and played off the audience well, even though I was extreemly nervous. I give myself "props" for tonight's performance. It was filmed with a vidio camera from the local NBC station, so I'm gonna have some killer promo footage, even thought they made me wear an f'n green sequin vest.
