    Famous drops

Brian May opened the jubilee pop concert in the queens back yard this weekend from the roof of Buckingham palace.
It was an awesome sight, he can't half play guitar, and
royalist though I am not - I forgive him for doing it 'cause he's one of my heroes.

    Anyhow...
    Question is...
Has anyone ever had any drops street or otherwise from anyone 'famous' ?
Brian May dropped five quid into my hat in Stratford in 1998.
I was doing 'Tippi - Lou' singing puppet show, he was watching with his wife Anita Dobson. My god he's tall !
Still got the £5, signed by him ( I know sad, don't care) its on my wall.

In 1990, I was down in Osaka, Japan during Janet Jackson's world tour.

I'd just finished a bunch of shows and was ready to leave when Janet and her entourage walked by. I think she looked my way.

I looked at her. She didn't look as freakish as her brother.

Sorry; no drops, but it was a brush with fame. It was early in my street career and I didn't yet have the 'nads to do anything outrageous.

I did get a hug from Bubbles (Michael's chimpanzee) once though.
I wa part of a group of clowns standing around backstage at Disneyland, and Bubbles singled me out. His trainer said I probably looked like his mother.

Henry Winkler ie: "The Fonz" dropped me a $20 at Grandville Island in '97. You know you're cool when the Fonz slips you a 20 spot. I also got him to give me an "eeeeeeehhhhhhhh!" with a thumbs up.

In 1994, when I was just starting out busking, I was working a corner in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta when Woody Harrelson walked by with some friends. About an hour later I saw them again and was able to stop them and show them by best close up magic while my girlfriend snapped some pics. No money, but some great pics and some nice conversation.

Someone from MTV vidiotaped me juggling for Carson Daily when I was in Santa Monica (not doing a show, just juggling). I don't know if they ever used any of it.
When I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year Carson bumped into me while he had is jacket over his head. I didn't know it was him till later, and i was wontering why there was a bunch of cops holding back crouds of screaming girls.
I bet half the people on this forum don't have any idea who Carson Daily is.
O, I also saw Harry Anderson while I was there.

No money from any of it though. I wasn't even doing any real shows for any of it.

When I was ding a gig once, I found myself eye to eye with Alexander, the future king of the Netherlands. Weird, having two chains with burning wick in your hand, so close to a member of the royal family.

And during other gigs, I met other dutch celebrities, most of them you don't know anyway, I suppose. Some of them you may, once I found myself in a medley with Boney M. and the George Baker selection. Not that we really met, the whole thing was far too cheesy commercial for anyone to get really involved...

the Mighty Gareth got a drop from Michael Jackson at Covent Garden about 3 or 4 years ago. I think the gloved one gave him £50. There was also a photo of the encounter in a national tabloid.
