Day 1

Today is the big departure day. I've quit all my jobs with exelent repor (one of my bosses actually started crying), and my bags are allmost packed. I'm gonna eat lunch with an old girlfriend, then go visit a different one, and then hit the road to start my life as a street performer.
I have very little money, and I have no idea what will happen to me. It's very exciting.
....Reading back over this is making me feel like a dork.

Crush, Kill, Destroy Evan.

(Somehow, your post reminded me of one of those John Cusack movies from the '80s...)

Just a thought, keep a diary for the first month or so at least as you'll find it useful and entertaining later on, audience sizes, particular interactions, problems, hat sizes and shows per day.

Did you get the gift basket the union usually sends?

Martin's advice is super. Keep the journal and be honest with yourself and your observations on your work.

WHAT??

By the five balls of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Butterfly Man, not more competition?! I can hardly take the pressure as it is!!

Get back to your restaurant job as fast as your little grease stained shoes can go and BEG FOR YOUR OLD JOB BACK WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE!!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I've been getting sick of people looking at me like I'm crazy and stupid.
I'm in Joshua Tree CA right now visiting relitives. In a couple of days I'm gonna go to San Diego to hang out with a friend of a friend (she's supposed to be really hot), and then up to LA and who knows what else. By June I'll be in Boulder/Denver.
BTW--I don't have to beg for any of my jobs as they all offered me more money to stay with them. One of the three was in fact actually begging me to say. It just made me want to leave more and sooner. That was a very perceptive coment about my shoes though.

Good luck, kid. Read every article in the library on it. Here's my favorite: http://www.performers.net/library/tt-streetperform.html

These articles (and this one in particular ) have helpped me out a lot! Just great, great, stuff.
