Number 3, without the red line. I like where the text is positioned because it hides a part of the photo that appears scratchy and dirty to me.
Red line sucks ! Red star good !
If you get a chance, feedbackers, take a look at it in a very small size, since it'll be looked at as a thumbnail on Amazon, and most people will make the decision to click based on the thumbnail.
Here's the thing, it has to be dual purpose. It has to work not just as a book cover but also as a thumbnail on amazon, so it's been argued that the red line and the star are distinctive things when it's shrunk right down . The cursive is unreadable at anything smaller than normal so I think that might have to be changed. by next mon I'll just make a final stab and go with it.
here's what some design dude said re 3
third one is the best without a doubt, here's why:
*The font is much better and fits the pictoral subject matter.
*The sepia toning is an improvement because it works with the font.
*The positioning of the text creates a symmetry that lets the reader follow the title through to the author clearly.
*The off-set red line is a nice touch; it creates the presence of a window or frame that conjures up a sensation of movement or distance. Hard to explain, but it works.
*Unlike the first two, there is no border- this is good because for a lot of designs, the presence of a border makes it look more like a flyer than a book cover.
...and a couple of days later I format it by myself after delving into that. [just basic html actually] and put it up on Amazon kindle for $2.99 as a download.
So hardcopy, softcover, $12.99
and Kindle Download $2.99
Next step for the rest of the world would ideally be people actually reading it and putting up reviews as there are none obviously, it being only a couple of days old.
and for me the plan is to wear full lurk makeup and read each piece to youtube which should be interesting. I'll get on that this weekend but it will take weeks to get a process together I suspect. Editing each stanza will be a task. I can only memorize a paragraph at a time. heh heh.
Surrounded as I am by ex cons and tweakers in my half-way house, recovery unit tropical bolthole I see daily video production as an interesting distraction. What a fucking life ahe?

Reason: I edited because I had a micro identity crisis, much better now thanks.
The Ilana and Kevin Old Time Music Show will be appearing on this Monday night's edition of "Live On Tape," on Malden cable access in Malden Massachusetts....and perhaps eventually on Youtube.
This is what I'm doing now. I don't know if it would work on the street. It might be hard to gather a circle for, and it really wouldn't work for quick pass by. I'd love to busk with it, but wanted some feedback. http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=mhee[/URL]
his milder ones are at that ancient myspace page, he had some dark stuff but it was always poppy.
I like 'Pumpkins are actually rocks' & 'Effort Money and Time' 'Thunderbirds are go'
wow I'm glad i found this, thanks.
also 'I shot down the only woman who ever loved me'
one of his other songs not featured here has the brilliant tongue in cheek country and western lyric, 'You can water your hydrangers on the grave of our arrangement...But it's only dissappointment's gunna grow"
