Dear Friend,
We are writing to performers, entertainers to ask for their support with our local world mental health day celebration. The event will be to raise awareness of mental health issues and to celebrate the achievements of the service and its users in Ealing, London.
We plan to hold a festival at Ealing Town Hall on the 10th October 2002, which will involve mental health promotion, numerious acts, alternative therapies and lots of fun. We do not make any money on the event but it is an opportunity to promote positive images of mental health and challenge discrimination.
The day will be split into the following themes:-
10-4 mental health promotion, stalls/activities Victoria room
Performances on main stage
12noon Official opening
Carol Harrison (actor), Steve Pound MP
And other surprise guests

6.30 - 11pm Celebration of Diversity Gig Victoria room

Mental health problems range from the stresses and worries that all of us experience at some times in our lives, to life-changing conditions which affect our whole personality.
It's important to recognise when things are getting serious - usually when the problem interferes with our ability to cope on a daily level. It's also important to remember that, with the right support, many people manage their mental health problems and lead fulfilling lives.
The stigma and discrmination surrounding mental health have a profound and damaging effect. They make it harder for people to admit they have a mental health problem and get the support they need. They mean that people with mental health problems are often treated with unwarranted distrust and fear. And they prevent people with mental health problems from getting equal opportunities in many areas of daily life.
we would be grateful for any support you could offer us to make our world mental health day celebration a success. We can offer limited expences.
